Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing rate of deforestation in Indonesia has triggered various ecological crises, including flash floods, environmental degradation, and ecosystem imbalance. This condition highlights the importance of educational approaches that foster ecological awareness grounded in religious values. This study aims to analyze the concept of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) based on ecological piety as a response to environmental crises through the interpretation of Qur’anic verses. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach based on library research. Primary data were obtained from Hamka’s Tafsir Al-Azhar and M. Quraish Shihab’s Tafsir Al-Misbah, while secondary data were collected from relevant scientific literature. Data were analyzed using a socio-ecological approach to connect Qur’anic interpretations with contemporary environmental issues. The findings reveal that Qur’an Surah Ar-Rum verse 41 emphasizes the relationship between environmental destruction and human misconduct (fasad), while Surah Ar-Rahman verses 7–9 highlight the principle of mizan (balance) as the foundation of ecological order. Classical and contemporary interpretations extend the meaning of fasad beyond moral and spiritual corruption to include ecological damage such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. Based on these findings, six principles of ecological piety were formulated: respect for nature, moral responsibility, cosmic solidarity, ecological compassion, ecological justice, and ecological restoration. The study concludes that integrating these principles into Islamic Religious Education can provide an ethical and transformative framework for developing learners who possess both spiritual awareness and responsibility toward environmental sustainability. ABSTRAK Deforestasi yang terus meningkat di Indonesia telah memicu berbagai krisis ekologis, termasuk banjir bandang, degradasi lingkungan, dan hilangnya keseimbangan ekosistem. Kondisi ini menunjukkan pentingnya penguatan pendidikan yang mampu menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis berbasis nilai-nilai keagamaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis konsep Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) berbasis kesalehan ekologis sebagai respons terhadap krisis lingkungan melalui kajian tafsir Al-Qur’an. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis berbasis studi kepustakaan (library research). Data primer diperoleh dari Tafsir Al-Azhar karya Hamka dan Tafsir Al-Misbah karya M. Quraish Shihab, sedangkan data sekunder berasal dari berbagai literatur ilmiah yang relevan. Analisis dilakukan melalui pendekatan sosio-ekologis untuk menghubungkan makna ayat dengan realitas kerusakan lingkungan kontemporer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa QS. Ar-Rum ayat 41 menegaskan hubungan antara kerusakan lingkungan dan perilaku manusia (fasad), sedangkan QS. Ar-Rahman ayat 7–9 menekankan pentingnya prinsip mizan (keseimbangan) sebagai dasar tata kelola alam. Penafsiran para ulama memperluas makna fasad tidak hanya pada aspek moral-spiritual, tetapi juga pada kerusakan ekologis seperti deforestasi, polusi, dan perubahan iklim. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut dirumuskan enam prinsip kesalehan ekologis, yaitu hormat terhadap alam, tanggung jawab moral, solidaritas kosmis, kasih sayang ekologis, keadilan ekologis, dan pemulihan ekologis. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi prinsip-prinsip kesalehan ekologis dalam PAI dapat menjadi landasan etis dan transformatif untuk membentuk peserta didik yang memiliki kesadaran spiritual sekaligus tanggung jawab terhadap keberlanjutan lingkungan.
