Abstract

The low reading skills and ability to use commas in elementary school students indicate that conventional methods still dominate the learning process and have not utilized contextual learning media. This condition contributes to low student engagement and less-than-optimal learning outcomes in the Indonesian language among grade II students. This study aims to analyze, evaluate, and test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of flashcard media containing Tat Twam Asi values in improving students' reading skills. This study is a Research and Development (R&D) study with the ADDIE development model. The research subjects consisted of grade II elementary school students, while the validity test subjects involved material experts and learning media experts. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and learning outcome tests, with instruments such as expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest-posttest tests. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and quantitatively using percentages, Aiken's V validity tests, correlated t-tests, and N-Gain Scores. The results showed that the developed flashcard media met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, and improved students' reading skills more effectively. The study's conclusions indicate that flashcards containing Tat Twam Asi are effective in improving elementary school students' reading skills in a more contextual and meaningful way. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating local wisdom into the development of learning media to strengthen students' literacy and character.

Abstract

The use of learning media in elementary schools has not been optimal because it tends to be monotonous, resulting in low student interest and enthusiasm for learning. In poetry learning, the learning process should provide meaningful and contextual experiences for students, however this has not been implemented optimally. This study aims to develop a poetry learning module based on the local wisdom of the Buleleng tradition for fourth-grade elementary school students. This research uses the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consist of 2 experts, 2 teachers, and 10 students. The data collection methods use observation, interviews, and questionnaires with a rating scale instrument. The data obtained in this study are qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the study show that the average validity according to subject matter experts is 4.86 with a very valid qualification, and the average validity according to media experts is 4.86 with a very valid qualification. The percentage of practicality based on teacher responses reaches 100% with a very practical qualification, and student responses reach 100% with a very practical qualification. Thus, the poetry learning module based on the local wisdom of the Buleleng tradition is declared valid and practical to be used in poetry learning in fourth-grade elementary school. The implications of this study are expected to encourage students' independent learning and help achieve learning objectives in a more meaningful and contextual manner.
