Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Sunda Kelapa Taklim Council as a non-state actor in the socialization of Islamic family law in Jakarta. Based on a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, this study examines how da'wah strategies are designed and implemented to transform family fiqh norms into the religious consciousness of urban communities. The focus of the research includes the material presented, delivery methods, communicative approaches, and the use of media in da'wah activities related to marriage issues, marital relations, divorce, and child care. Data was obtained through interviews, participatory observations, and documentation of the administrators, ustadz, and worshippers of the Sunda Kelapa Taklim Council centered at the Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque. The results of the study show that the da'wah strategy functions as an effective instrument for socializing Islamic family law in shaping the normative awareness of the congregation. The substance of family law is conveyed in a normative-theological, ethical-social, and practical framework, so that it is not only understood as a formal rule, but as a spiritual mandate and moral guideline in domestic life. As a non-state actor, the taklim assembly does not have formal juridical authority like state institutions, but it plays a significant role in building moral legitimacy, providing a space for non-formal consultation before the litigation process, and bridging fiqh norms with national regulations and the realities of urban life. These findings confirm that the development of Islamic family law in Indonesia takes place through the interaction between the formal structure of the state and the dynamics of religious civil society that shape the understanding and practice of law at the social level.

Abstract

Religious tolerance in Indonesia remains a significant issue within the context of the country’s religious and cultural diversity, while media representations of tolerance often remain superficial and symbolic. Using Branston and Stafford’s Theory of Meaning and Media, this study interprets how religious tolerance is constructed through digital dialogue in the Login podcast episode “6 Religious Figures Unite on Eid al-Fitr.” This study employs a qualitative case study approach focusing on three units of analysis: the podcast’s verbal and visual elements, 14 selected YouTube comments reflecting variations in audience reception, and in-depth interviews with six religious figures featured in the podcast. The triangulated analysis reveals an imbalance in symbolic representation despite the podcast’s effort to construct a narrative of equality and interfaith harmony. The dominance of denotative meanings over deeper connotative interpretations indicates that media discourse on tolerance tends to emphasize surface-level unity rather than critical engagement with religious differences. These findings highlight the importance of more inclusive and reflective media practices in representing interfaith dialogue and promoting meaningful religious tolerance in digital media.

Abstract

Jendela Islam program is one of the religious programs on UIN Jakarta's DNK TV YouTube channel. To produce Jendela Islam video content, the production crew certainly needs special techniques. As in the use of production tools (cameras, audio and lighting) so that the da'wah content can be visually accepted by the public. This study aims to analyze the production techniques of Da'wah Jendela Islam content on the YouTube channel DNK TV UIN Jakarta. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study put more emphasis on observation, documentation, and supplemented by literature. The theory used is the production technique of Branston and Stafford. Observations made in this study were on the production process of Jendela Islam episode 79. The results of the analysis of this study are that DNK TV only uses two lighting, namely key light and fill light. The key light used by the DNK TV crew is Godox LED 500C. The DNK TV crew also took advantage of the Fill light using the Amaran H528S LED lighting. The image composition used is two shots and medium close up. The transition technique carried out by the production crew is the cut or cutting transition.
