Abstract

ABSTRAK. Rumah Ulu adalah rumah tradisional yang berada di daerah uluan Sumatera Selatan. Sebaran Rumah Ulu di daerah Pasemah, Semendo, Minanga, Lamban Tuha dan Ogan. Rumah Ulu adalah rumah panggung dengan bentuk dasar segi empat dan kemiringan atap yang curam. Rumah Ulu di daerah Ogan disebut Rumah Ulu Ogan dan bisa dijumpai di tepian sungai Ogan. Kondisinya kurang terawat dan sudah banyak mengalami perubahan bentuk maupun bahan konstruksinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji arsitektur Rumah Ulu Ogan. Lokasi penelitian berada di permukiman Desa Mendala, Kecamatan Peninjauan Ogan Komering Ulu. Hasil identifikasi selanjutnya dianalisis untuk menentukan karakter arsitekturnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, Rumah Ulu Ogan memiliki tampilan yang khas yang tidak dimiliki pada Rumah Ulu daerah lainnya, yaitu tiang-tiang tinggi yang menopang atap pada teras depan. Denah rumah bangunan inti berbentuk segi empat dengan tambahan ruang pada sisi kanan, kiri dan belakang serta beranda rumah ada di sebelah kiri. Tidak ada sekat yang permanen dalam rumah. Atap pada bangunan inti berbentuk pelana dengan kemiringan 55 derajat yang terhubung dengan atap tambahan di sekelilingnya, bubungan atap datar atau tidak melengkung dan memiliki tebeng layar yang tegak. Ada ornamen ukiran pada bagian atap dinding dan balok lantai yang menghadap ke depan rumah. Tata letak Rumah Ulu Ogan berpola linier yang berlapis, memanjang dan sejajar aliran sungai juga orientasi bangunan tidak selalu menuju ke sungai. Kata kunci: arsitektur, Rumah Ulu, Ogan ABSTRACT. Rumah Ulu is a traditional house located in Uluan area of South Sumatra. The distribution of Rumah Ulu in the area of Pasemah, Semendo, Minanga, Lamban Tuha and Ogan. Rumah Ulu is a stilt house with a rectangular base shape and a steep roof slope. Rumah Ulu in the Ogan area is called Rumah Ulu Ogan and can be found on the banks of the Ogan river. The conditions are lack of maintenance and have undergone much change in shape and construction materials. This research is aimed to study the architecture of Ogan's house. The research site is located in the Mendala village settlement, Sub-District of Ogan Komering Ulu District. Further identification results are analyzed to determine the character of the architecture. The result shows Rumah Ulu Ogan has a distinctive look that is not owned in the home of other areas, namely high poles that support the roof on the front porch. House structure of the rectangular core building with additional space on the right side, left and back and the porch of the house on the left. There is no permanent bulkhead in the house. The roof of the saddle-shaped core building with a 55-degree slope connected to an additional roof around it, a flat roof ridge or non-curved and has an upright sidewall. There are ornaments carved on the roof of the walls and floor beams that face the front of the house. The layout of Ogan's house is linearly patterned, elongated and parallel to the flow of the river also the orientation of the building does not always go to the river. Keywords: architecture, Rumah Ulu, Ogan

Abstract

Indonesia is an earthquake-prone area because it is located at the world's most active tectonic plates and hundreds of local faults. Obviously, there have been many earthquake victims caused by collapsed buildings, hence the need for earthquake-resistant construction. However, there is not much guidance for architects to design earthquake-resistant buildings. This research proposes guidance for architects on how to design building forms relatively able to resist earthquakes. The simulation experiment method involving 32 building models in various forms was employed. The experimental results were then analyzed with modal analysis in ETABS and SVA for architectural design. Based on the analysis report, some guidelines were proposed: 1). Avoid buildings that are too slender, use the slenderness ratio H/D ≤ 2, 2). Avoid soft stories where the ratio of the top column height (h) to the bottom column height (h1) ≤ 0.8, 3). Use symmetrical shapes with 1 or 2 axes and avoid shapes with random compositions, 4). Use the additive and subtractive mass transformation ≤ 15%, 5).Strengthen the structural elements, install shear walls, or use dilatation to minimize potential torsional irregularities and non-parallel system irregularities of L, T, U, +, and Z forms6). Avoid using non-axial asymmetrical forms.

Abstract

Perencanaan kota di negara berkembang semakin menyadari pentingnya pengembangan yang berorientasi pada manusia. Salah satu konsep yang berkembang pesat saat ini adalah Complete Street. Konsep ini menekankan pentingnya respon desain dan perencanaan ruang jalan kota terhadap keberagaman konteks pengguna sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pengalaman ruang. Namun, karakteristik individu khususnya pengaruh latar belakang sosial budaya terhadap pemilihan ruang jalan kota masih belum banyak dikaji, khususnya dalam konteks negara berkembang. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meninjau status kependudukan dapat menjadi representasi karakteristik individu dan memiliki pengaruh terhadap preferensi ruang jalan kota. Analisis korespondensi terhadap kuesioner semi tertutup (semi close-ended) dari 190 responden di Bandung, Indonesia, menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara status tempat tinggal dan preferensi jalan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengunjung melihat jalan sebagai tujuan rekreatif, sedangkan penduduk memilih ruang jalan fungsional yang mendukung rutinitas harian (utilitarian). Studi ini mengusulkan kerangka konseptual mengenai empat aspek utama yang memengaruhi preferensi ruang jalan kota, yakni aspek penyerta, aspek motivasi, aspek atraksi, dan aspek mobilitas. Dengan mempertimbangkan aspek-aspek tersebut di dalam perencanaan dan perancangan ruang jalan kota, diharapkan ruang jalan dapat memberikan pengalaman ruang yang akan menjadi identitas kota yang berkesinambungan.

Abstract

Interaksi sosial sangat berperan dalam mengembangkan daya kritis dan kreativitas mahasiswa, namun banyak kampus di negara berkembang belum memiliki ruang sosial formal memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi perilaku tigmotaksis, yakni kecenderungan beraktivitas dekat elemen batas fisik-dalam pembentukan ruang sosial informal di Kampus Fakultas Teknik Universitas Sriwijaya, Palembang. Dengan metode observasi lapangan dan pemetaan perilaku secara kualitatif, ditemukan dua tipe ruang sosial : (1) ruang statis tigmotaksis yang terbentuk di tepian fisik, serta (2) ruang dinamis non-tigmotaksis yang menyebar di sepanjang koridor dan area luar. Keduanya dipengaruhi oleh tiga elemen arsitektural, yakni elemen fisik, fungsional, dan visual. Hasil menunjukkan tigmotaksis mencerminkan kebutuhan mahasiswa akan rasa aman dan nyaman, sehingga interaksi sosial informal berlangsung secara spontan, singkat, menetap, dan dalam kelompok kecil. Temuan tersebut menegaskan pentingnya strategi perancangan kampus dengan lahan terbatas melalui penyediaan area duduk strategis, peningkatan akses visual dari dan ke dalam ruang, dan pengelolaan koridor sebagai ruang interaksi.

Abstract

Public open space is an important residential facility to create a healthy living space for city residents. Facilities that perform a major role in accommodating the activities of community life in urban settlements. In riverside settlements, riverbank areas have a large land potential for building public open spaces. The riverside open space is an important element in making the characteristics of a riverside city. This study aims to identifies the form, distribution, and size of open space in settlements along the Musi riverbank of Palembang. This study also observes the function of open space in accomodating residents’ activities. The research uses rationalistic methods, through field observations in the form of observations of physical settings and functional aspects. The results show that the open space for public interaction and activities is evenly distributed in various sizes and locations, but is not supported by supporting facilities. Meanwhile, the community creates alternative open spaces to accommodate their various activities for the solution of lacking public space. Without an opening of new land, revitalization of the settlement infrastructure should be focus on improve the informal open spaces by providing a sitting area with benches, lighting, shade, trees, and stall area could increase comfortability, safety, and leisurity of the public open space.

Abstract

Palembang’s stilt house is an important cultural heritage that embodies the richness of traditional Indonesian architecture. This study analyses the aesthetic values and social identity expressed in a stilt house in Kampung Perigi, Palembang, and proposes strategies for developing heritage tourism. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through field observation, documentation, and a literature review. The findings show that the stilt house owned by Pak Kiagus Amir Hamzah, built in 1930, has distinctive architectural characteristics that blend Dutch influences with local Palembang traditions. Measuring 12 m × 39 m with a floor height of 3.60 m, the building is constructed from ironwood and features ornaments such as lawang kipasan and tiered kijing elements. Heritage tourism strategies recommended for Kampung Perigi include guided historical tours, improved supporting facilities, educational programs, and Musi River boat tours. These initiatives are designed to strengthen heritage conservation while generating community-based economic benefits through local guiding, storytelling, and small-scale tourism services. Beyond description, the study offers a conceptual contribution by showing how hybrid architectural elements can be treated as systematic “identity markers” and converted into clear interpretation themes and tourism products, providing a practical bridge between architectural heritage analysis and community-led tourism planning.

Abstract

City parks are again crowded with people after COVID-19 to play, exercise and recreation, and Adipura Muara Enim Park is no exception. The Covid-19 pandemic is not certain to end. For this reason, the facilities available in city parks in the new normal era need to be conditioned so that they can provide optimal services and can support the government's efforts in handling COVID-19. The aim of the research is to analyze the need for infrastructure facilities and get the "level of service" (LOS). The research used a descriptive survey data collection method in the form of observing physical settings, functional aspects and similar research theories and then distributing questionnaires with several variables, namely the level of service facilities, level of activity level, significance and level of ease of achievement. Attitudes were assessed using a Likert scale and the "level of service" (LOS) analysis method. The results showed that the level of service at Adipura Muara Enim Park was F (< 5), that is, there was an accumulation of user activity due to the uneven distribution of facilities. It is necessary to add and adjust the facility design to meet the new normal criteria, including: the addition of an outdoor gym, guard post, information media boards, hand washing facilities, body temperature measuring device, pavement material pattern as a spacer, single seats, vegetation as a barrier between facility.

Abstract

Rapid urban development has increased the public’s need for urban parks as public spaces. However, the lack of a systematic evaluation mechanism based on user behavior has often resulted in facility layouts being out of sync with spatial characteristics and visitors’ activity patterns. This causes park utilization rates to inadequately reflect spatial potential, requiring an empirical approach to understand the relationship between spatial characteristics and user behavior. This study analyzes the distribution of visitor activities and their relationship with spatial characteristics to formulate facility layout recommendations using behavior mapping at Adipura Park in Muara Enim, South Sumatra. A descriptive qualitative approach supported by quantitative data was applied through direct observation over seven days in three time periods. The park was divided into zones based on function and spatial characteristics. Results indicate variations in activity intensity and type across zones. Zones 2 and 3 show the highest utilization levels, while Zone 1 is moderate and mainly circulatory. Zones 4 and 5 tend to be passive due to limited facilities, comfort, and visibility. These findings underscore the importance of aligning facility layouts with user behavior as a basis for urban park planning. The findings provide empirical guidance for designing more responsive, efficient, and user-oriented public park spaces.
