Abstract

The research examined the perspectives of ESP learners and lecturers regarding the implementation of technology-enhanced task-based language teaching (TBLT) integrated into content language integrated learning (CLIL) in ESP instruction, and it identified key factors affecting its effective integration. A qualitative research design was employed, involving 95 nursing students and 10 ESP lecturers, who completed an open-ended questionnaire. Moreover, participants took part in focus group discussions (FGDs), including ESP students, heads of the nursing program, ESP lecturers, nursing lecturers, stakeholders, and professional nurses. Thematic data analysis of the open-ended questionnaire and FGDs results revealed that students and lecturers viewed the implementation of technology-enhanced TBLT integrated into CLIL as beneficial for integrating nursing theory with English language proficiency, thereby significantly improving content knowledge and language competence. Nonetheless, substantial obstacles arose, encompassing technology limitations, insufficient instructor preparation, and limited interdisciplinary collaboration. The results indicate that successful implementation necessitates a robust technology infrastructure, continuous professional development for educators, and enhanced collaboration between language teachers and nursing departments. The results of this study also show that technology-enhanced TBLT integrated into CLIL can relate theoretical lessons to real-world applications. These results create a complete learning environment that gives nursing students the skills they need to meet the high standards of the medical field.

Abstract

Ventilator-associated events (VAE) dan Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) tetap menjadi sumber morbiditas dan mortalitas tinggi pada pasien yang menerima ventilasi mekanik. Akumulasi sekret jalan napas mengganggu pertukaran gas dan meningkatkan kebutuhan FiO₂/PEEP sehingga mendorong terjadinya VAE. Tindakan suction yang tepat dan kebersihan oral yang sistematis merupakan intervensi yang potensial untuk memperbaiki oksigenasi serta menurunkan risiko komplikasi. Studi ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas pelaksanaan oropharyngeal suction berkala dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan oksigenasi pasien yang terpasang ventilator di ruang ICU. Desain studi laporan kasus (case report / evidence based nursing) dilaksanakan pada enam pasien dewasa yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi (>18 tahun, ventilator >72 jam) di RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. Tiga pasien menerima oropharyngeal suction berkala + oral care 4 jam (Intervensi I) dan tiga pasien menerima suction seperlunya + oral care 8 jam (Intervensi II). Parameter yang dicatat meliputi tidal volume (VT), SpO₂, dan FiO₂ sebelum dan setelah intervensi pada jadwal yang telah ditetapkan. Prosedur mengikuti SOP suction dan praktik pre-oksigenasi. Pada kedua kelompok tidak ditemukan penurunan SpO₂ paska suction; umumnya terjadi peningkatan atau stabilitas SpO₂. Kelompok Intervensi I menunjukkan kecenderungan penurunan kebutuhan FiO₂ rata-rata dan peningkatan VT jangka menengah dibanding Intervensi II. Tidak dilaporkan efek samping serius terkait prosedur. Oropharyngeal suction terjadwal dikombinasikan dengan oral care efektif mempertahankan atau memperbaiki oksigenasi pada pasien ventilator dan dapat berkontribusi menurunkan faktor risiko VAE/VAP. Disarankan penerapan protokol suction terjadwal dalam SOP ICU dengan perhatian pada teknik aseptik dan pre-oksigenasi.
