Abstract

Jakarta is one of the most polluted cities in Indonesia, which often exceeds safe health standards. Despite growing evidence linking air pollution to dermatological conditions, public knowledge and preventive behavior in urban communities remain limited and poorly addressed in community health programs. The objective of this program is to increase community knowledge about the effects of air pollution on skin health through a community-based education model that integrates pre-test and post-test assessments with practical activities. The program was conducted in three phases: pre-implementation, including material preparation and pretest-posttest assessment design; implementation, including a health education session and a practical workshop on micellar water formulation; and post-implementation, through evaluation and reporting. The activity was held on October 15, 2025, with 30 participants. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in participant knowledge, as measured by a paired t-test (p<0,05), with average scores increasing from 53.0 to 65.67. The assessment was conducted using a 10-question questionnaire before and after the activity. This activity highlights the potential of integrated educational and practical approaches to improve community understanding of environmental health risks and support the adoption of preventive self-care practices.

Abstract

Drug solubility is a fundamental challenge in pharmaceutical development, especially for oral dosage forms where poor solubility limits therapeutic effectiveness. Among the approaches explored to address this issue, cocrystals and nanocrystals have shown notable advantages in improving physicochemical properties and drug delivery. Nanococrystals, which integrate the principles of both systems, represent a promising platform with potential benefits in solubility, bioavailability, and stability. This study was designed as a systematic literature review of publications from 2015 to 2025 retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect. Relevant studies were analyzed thematically to provide insights into nanococrystal design, including the role of active pharmaceutical ingredients, coformers, stabilizers, and solvents. Fabrication methods such as antisolvent precipitation, wet milling, high pressure homogenization, and spray flash evaporation were reviewed alongside characterization techniques including X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, spectroscopy, and microscopy. Applications of nanococrystals consistently demonstrate significant improvements in solubility, dissolution rate, and oral bioavailability compared to conventional forms, confirming their potential as an advanced drug delivery strategy for future pharmaceutical development.

Abstract

The use of cosmetics among adolescents has increased significantly alongside the rapid growth of the beauty industry. However, several critical issues, such as illegal cosmetics or the misuse of cosmetic products, raise great concern. Adolescents, a growing population with limited literacy regarding product safety, may pose higher health risks. This community service program aimed to improve high school students’ knowledge of safe cosmetic use through an experiential learning approach. The activity was conducted with 39 students (64% female, 36% male) from SMA Strada Santo Thomas Aquino in Tangerang. The research design is quasi-experimental using methods included a combination of lectures and a workshop on natural-based lip balm formulation. Participants' knowledge was assessed using a pre-test and post-test to evaluate changes before and after the educational intervention. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 78 on the pre-test to 97 on the post-test. Statistical analysis using a paired t-test demonstrated that this improvement was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The proportion of participants in the very good category increased substantially from 7.69% to 76.92%. In addition, the satisfaction survey indicated high participant satisfaction, with more than 70% rating the overall implementation of the program as very good, including the quality of educational delivery, topic relevance, practical applicability, and time allocation. In conclusion, the creative, natural-product-based educational program effectively improved cosmetic literacy among adolescents and achieved a high level of participant satisfaction. This approach may serve as an effective strategy for adolescences education.
