Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah murid kelas V SDN Denanyar 1 Jombang pada materi IPA, khususnya rantai makanan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efektivitas model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dan Teams Games Tournament (TGT) atas kemampuan pemecahan masalah murid. Penelitian memakai pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental tipe Intact Group Comparison. Sampel berjumlah 30 murid yang terbagi menjadi dua kelompok perlakuan. Instrumen berupa angket kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebanyak 20 butir pernyataan yang telah diindikasikan valid dan mempunyai reliabilitas sangat tinggi dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,972. Data dianalisis memakai uji Independent Sample t-Test berbantuan SPSS versi 25. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan jika rata-rata post-test kelompok PBL (91,20) secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok TGT (70,00) dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Simpulan penelitian ini memperlihatkan jika model PBL lebih efektif dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah murid di bandingkan model TGT pada materi rantai makanan.

Abstract

This study is based on the low ability of fifth-grade students of SDN Denanyar 1 Jombang in solving problems in science material, especially the food chain. Researchers compared the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) to improve students' problem-solving abilities. A quantitative approach with an intact group comparison design was applied, dividing 30 students into two treatment groups. Researchers used a 20-item problem-solving ability questionnaire, which had been validated and was reliable with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.972. Data analysis was carried out using the Independent Sample t-Test using SPSS version 25 to compare post-test results accurately. The results showed that the PBL group's post-test average was 91.20, significantly higher than the TGT of 70.00, with a significance of 0.000 <0.05. This finding proves that the PBL model is more effective in improving students' problem-solving abilities than TGT. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of implementing a problem-based model to develop students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills in optimal science learning.
