Abstract

This study explores the integration of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) with Islamic economic principles in addressing macroeconomic challenges such as inflation and unemployment. The research employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach using a comprehensive literature review methodology, analyzing data from academic journals, central bank reports, and research institutions covering the period 2012–2022. The study synthesizes MMT concepts of monetary sovereignty, money creation mechanisms, and job guarantee programs with Islamic economic principles that emphasize the state’s responsibility for social welfare and economic justice. Through a systematic examination of the similarities and differences between MMT and Islamic economics, this study demonstrates that both frameworks recognize the active role of government in regulating the economy for social purposes, prioritizing human well-being over abstract financial targets. Analysis of practical implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly Indonesia’s fiscal response and the U.S. Wage Protection Program, reveals that sovereign nations can effectively utilize fiscal capacity to maintain economic stability without triggering uncontrolled inflation. The study concludes that integrating MMT principles with Islamic economic values creates a pragmatic and ethical policy framework, enabling governments to optimize fiscal and monetary capacity for public welfare while upholding social justice and moral considerations. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive framework that bridges heterodox macroeconomics with Islamic economic ethics, offering a contextually relevant model for economic policymaking in Muslim-majority countries.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, the rapid flow of information, and widespread virtual interactions have presented new challenges for the moral formation of teenagers. The moral crisis does not only appear in the form of conventional social delinquency, but also develops in the digital space through hate speech, cyberbullying, the spread of hoaxes, weak communication etiquette, low empathy, and lack of responsibility in the media. This article aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education in overcoming the moral crisis of teenagers in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of library research and an integrative literature review design. Data was obtained from scientific journal articles for 2020–2026, theoretical books, proceedings, and relevant education policy documents. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis through the stages of identification, filtering, coding, organizing themes, and synthesis of findings. The results of the study show that Islamic Religious Education has a preventive, educative and transformative role in developing adolescent morals. Preventively, PAI builds a stronghold of values, self-control and religious awareness. Educationally, PAI teaches moral values, manners, social responsibility and digital ethics contextually. Transformatively, PAI forms a religious character so that Islamic values are realized in real behavior, both in social and digital spaces. This study confirms that PAI learning needs to be developed in a reflective, participatory, example-based manner and integrated with religious digital literacy.

Abstract

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has driven the transformation of payment systems toward the increasingly widespread use of electronic money in Indonesia, which, from the perspective of Islamic macroeconomics, is not only related to transaction efficiency but also encompasses aspects of monetary stability, wealth distribution, and economic justice. This study aims to analyze the integration of the principle of riba fadl within sharia-compliant electronic money policies based on the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 116/DSN-MUI/IX/2017, as well as its implications from an Islamic macroeconomic perspective. The method employed is a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach using a literature review, drawing on sources such as academic journals, books, fatwas, and publications from relevant authoritative institutions. The findings indicate that the principle of riba fadl, which emphasizes value equivalence and spot transactions, serves as a fundamental basis for assessing the validity of electronic money mechanisms, particularly in the top-up process categorized as a ṣarf contract. Although the fatwa provides a normative foundation, its implementation still faces challenges related to service fees, digital business models, and the management of float funds, which may potentially lead to value imbalances. From the perspective of Islamic macroeconomics, the integration of this principle plays a significant role in maintaining financial system stability, promoting equitable distribution, and ensuring linkage with the real sector; therefore, strengthening regulation and supervision is necessary to ensure that sharia-compliant payment systems can develop in a stable, inclusive, and equitable manner.
