Abstract

Isu tahrif Al-Qur’an merupakan salah satu persoalan paling kontroversial dalam sejarah pemikiran Islam, khususnya terkait dengan sebagian pandangan ulama Syi’ah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis secara kritis dinamika wacana tahrif Al-Qur’an dalam tradisi intelektual Syi’ah melalui pendekatan historis-teologis dan kajian literatur primer maupun sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa klaim adanya tahrif lebih banyak muncul dari teks-teks marginal serta konteks politik awal Islam, sementara mayoritas ulama Syi’ah arus utama menegaskan keotentikan Al-Qur’an sebagaimana diterima umat Islam pada umumnya. Perdebatan tersebut juga dipengaruhi oleh konstruksi epistemologis, otoritas hadis, serta dinamika relasi Sunni–Syi’ah dalam sejarah. Dengan demikian, studi ini menegaskan bahwa isu tahrif Al-Qur’an bukan merupakan doktrin normatif dalam Syi’ah, melainkan wacana historis yang kompleks dan perlu ditelaah secara proporsional. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap penguatan pemahaman lintas mazhab serta pengembangan kajian studi Al-Qur’an kontemporer.

Abstract

This study analyzes the spiritual and social functions of the practice of reading Surah Yasin on the night of Nishfu Sha'ban at the Al-Muttaqien Mosque in South Jakarta through the Living Qur'an approach and the perspective of the sociology of religion. This study aims to reveal the ritual structure, the meaning given by the congregation, the social functions, and the dynamics of religious legitimacy that accompany the continuity of this tradition. The findings indicate that the Yasinan ritual has been institutionalized. Thus, this study expands the Living Qur'an study by showing that the Qur'an in the context of the Nishfu Sha'ban ritual functions as a ritual social structure that organizes collective actions, frames the religious experiences of the congregation, and maintains the continuity of religious traditions through established social mechanisms as an annual collective practice passed down from generation to generation, with a relatively stable implementation structure from year to year. The congregation’s interpretation of Surah Yasin is rooted in beliefs regarding its virtues and strengthened by recurring spiritual experiences that foster tranquility and a sense of closeness to God. Moreover, the ritual plays a significant role in strengthening social cohesion, enhancing communal solidarity, and transmitting religious values to younger generations. Despite differing scholarly views on the authenticity of hadiths related to Nishfu Sha’ban, the community responds pragmatically by emphasizing the ritual’s social benefits and spiritual value. This study demonstrates that Yasinan is not merely a spiritual practice but also an adaptive social institution within urban Muslim society. The research opens pathways for further studies in other Muslim communities to better understand contemporary religious practices.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain tolerance from Hamka's perspective which the author found in Tafsir Al-Azhar. This paper finds the principles of tolerance in Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. Tafsir Al-Azhar is a commentary on Hamka's work which focuses more on the adâbi ijtimâ'i interpretation style. This can be seen in the explanation in Tafsir Al-Azhar regarding the principles of tolerance, such as: Compassion and good behavior between religious communities (Q.S. al-Fâtihah/1: 1), freedom of religion (Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 256; al-Kahfi/18: 29), Enable tolerance amidst diversity, (Q.S. al-Hujurât/49: 13, Mutual respect between religious communities, (Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 62). This research uses an approach literature (library research). The research method used in this scientific work is qualitative research methods. As for the review of the study of the interpretation of the al-Quran, this research is classified as a variety of thematic interpretations or maudhû'î. The conclusion in this research is that tolerance Hamka in Tafsir Al-Azhar promotes the paradigm of tolerance between religious communities, that in social life there are various kinds of differences such as ethnicity, race, language, culture, customs and also religion. In facing these differences, a person must have an attitude of tolerance so that social life remains united and not divided. With an attitude of tolerance, a person can invite peace towards other religions and give freedom to followers of certain religions in choosing a religion according to their respective beliefs without any coercion
