Abstract

Kebakaran peti kemas di atas kapal merupakan salah satu ancaman terbesar bagi keselamatan maritim, yang risikonya terus meningkat seiring dengan melonjaknya volume perdagangan global dan kompleksitas muatan. Keterbatasan sistem pemadam kebakaran konvensional dalam menjangkau titik api di dalam peti kemas menjadi tantangan operasional yang signifikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan efektivitas sistem HydroPen dengan sistem pemadam kebakaran konvensional, serta mengevaluasi tingkat pemahaman awak kapal terhadap penggunaan dan pemeliharaan HydroPen di MV. CMA CGM Xiamen. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif komparatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem HydroPen memiliki keunggulan signifikan karena mampu menjangkau sumber api dengan menembus peti kemas tanpa perlu membukanya, sehingga secara operasional jauh lebih aman dan efektif dibandingkan sistem konvensional. Meskipun demikian, keberhasilan implementasi alat ini sangat bergantung pada tingkat pemahaman dan kesiapan kru. Di sisi lain, sistem konvensional tetap krusial sebagai langkah pendukung, khususnya untuk proses pendinginan eksternal guna mencegah perambatan api (boundary cooling). Kesimpulannya, integrasi antara sistem HydroPen dan metode konvensional merupakan strategi mitigasi yang paling optimal untuk menangani kebakaran peti kemas. Oleh karena itu, peningkatan kompetensi awak kapal melalui pelatihan intensif sangat direkomendasikan untuk menjamin pemanfaatan teknologi pemadaman yang efektif dan efisien.Container fires onboard ships represent one of the most critical threats to maritime safety, with risks escalating alongside the surge in global trade volumes and cargo complexity. The inherent limitations of conventional firefighting systems in accessing the ignition source inside closed containers pose a significant operational challenge. This study aims to comparatively analyze the effectiveness of the HydroPen system against conventional firefighting methods, while also evaluating the crew's comprehension of the operation and maintenance of the HydroPen aboard the MV. CMA CGM Xiamen. Employing a qualitative method with a descriptive comparative approach, data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the HydroPen system offers a significant advantage by directly piercing the container to extinguish the fire without requiring the doors to be opened, making it substantially safer and more effective than conventional systems. Nevertheless, its operational success relies heavily on the crew's readiness and level of understanding. Furthermore, conventional systems remain essential as a supporting mechanism, particularly for external boundary cooling to prevent fire propagation. In conclusion, the integration of the HydroPen system with conventional firefighting methods constitutes the most optimal mitigation strategy for container fire incidents. Therefore, enhancing crew competency through intensive training is highly recommended to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of firefighting technologies.

Abstract

This study investigates the integrated effects of marketing strategy, port facilities, and equipment utilization on port performance and their implications for user satisfaction at Marunda Port, Indonesia. Despite achieving a relatively high user satisfaction score (4.2/5), operational data reveal inefficiencies in asset utilization and inconsistencies in performance, indicating a gap between perceived service quality and operational effectiveness.A quantitative research design was employed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with LISREL. The study utilizes both primary data collected through user surveys and secondary data derived from port operational reports (2022–2024). The results demonstrate that port facilities and equipment utilization have a strong and significant influence on port performance, while marketing strategy shows a weaker but still significant effect. Furthermore, port performance significantly affects user satisfaction, confirming its mediating role in the relationship between operational factors and customer perception. The findings reveal a critical paradox: although ship service performance (waiting time and approach time) meets operational standards, low utilization rates (BOR and YOR) indicate the presence of idle capacity, suggesting inefficiencies in land-side operations. This study contributes to the literature by providing an integrated model that simultaneously examines marketing strategy, infrastructure, and operational utilization within a port performance framework. Managerially, the study highlights the need for data-driven marketing strategies, optimization of asset utilization, and improved integration between sea-side and land-side operations to enhance competitiveness and user satisfaction.
