Abstract

Abstract

Drainage functions to drain water so that there is no puddle on the road surface which can disrupt community activities and damage to road construction. On Jalan Harapan, the Rumbai Pesisir sub-district already has a drainage channel on the right with a height of 1.3 m and a width of 1.3 m and a left channel with a height of 1.3 m and a width of 1.1 m. However, there are still frequent puddles of water on the road surface. The condition of the drainage channel on the hope road is hollow, causing waterlogging in the area. The purpose of this research is to do a re-planning to improve the condition of the existing drainage channel so that it can drain water. The method used is the Gumbel distribution method to calculate the frequency of rainfall, SNI 03-3424-1994 to calculate the intensity of rainfall and the manning method to calculate the flow velocity. From the planning results, the dimensions are 1.75 m high and 1.5 m wide with an upstream elevation of 99,013 and a downstream elevation of 98.8108 for the right channel and the left channel with a height of 1.45 m and a width of 1.2 m with an upstream elevation of 98.429 and an elevation of 98.429. downstream 98,227 for the left channel. In conclusion, the dimensions of the right channel are 1.75 m high and 1.5 m wide, the left channel is 1.45 m high and 1.2 m wide.

Abstract

Building construction requires soil conditions that have good bearing capacity so that they can bear the load on it. Clay soils with high plasticity are soils that contain lots of clay grains. The properties of clay that need to be considered are the properties of compression, permeability, and shear strength. To increase the carrying capacity of the clay by compacting it, so that the maximum density is obtained. Mixing the original soil with palm bunch ash and cement will increase the maximum dry density value of clay soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the compaction of the soil mixed with various percentages of palm bunch ash and cement, respectively 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. The addition of palm bunch ash and cement can reduce the value of soil moisture content and increase the value of the dry density of the soil so that the soil becomes denser. The largest dry density value in a mixture of 10% palm bunch ash and cement was 1.42 g/cm³, whereas the dry density value of the original soil was 1.32 g/cm³. The conclusion is that there is an increase in the dry density value of the soil and a decrease in the value of the soil moisture content with the addition of palm bunch ash and cement.

Abstract

The nature of the subgrade plays an important role in road construction. The subgrade can be compacted embankment. The physical and mechanical properties of embankment soil are values or parameters to see the quality requirements. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the embankment soil as a subgrade. The method used is laboratory testing to obtain the physical and mechanical properties of the embankment soil. Soil samples were taken from Tenayan Raya, Kulim, Pekanbaru City. The results showed that the physical properties of the soil were classified as ML, PI 6.62%, and the mechanical properties of the soil with a CBR value of 17.8%. Conclusion The physical properties of the embankment soil should not contain organic matter and high plasticity. Mechanical properties of embankment soil for CBR value > 10% based on Bina Marga 2018 Revision 2 specifications for selected embankments.
