Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze various learning problems and student behavior in the implementation of Pancasila Education at fifth grade of SDN 09 Saruaso. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of fifteen students and the class teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study's findings indicate that the learning problems identified include low levels of student motivation and participation, the application of teacher-dominated instructional approaches, limited media and learning resources, and a lack of student understanding in implementing Pancasila values in everyday life. In addition, various student behavioral problems were also found, such as lack of discipline, low attitudes of responsibility and mutual cooperation, lack of respect for friends, and a tendency to disrupt the learning process. These problems are influenced by both external and internal factors. Therefore, improvement efforts are needed through the adoption of more varied, active, and context-based learning methods, the use of relevant learning media, and strengthening cooperation between schools and families to support character building and enhance the quality of Pancasila instruction. Abstract

One important element that affects students’ success in the educational process is their motivation to learn.  Nevertheless, in Pancasila Education classes at SDN 14 Tanjung Barulak, students exhibited low learning motivation, characterized by limited engagement during lessons, minimal participation in classroom activities, and a lack of enthusiasm when completing assignments. This study sought to determine whether the Make A Match learning paradigm may increase students' motivation to learn. A quantitative pre-experimental approach utilising a One Grup Pretest-Posttest Design was employed. A saturation sampling technique was used to choose 19 fourth graders as participants. Data was gathered via observation sheets, learning motivation surveys, and documentation. The data was evaluated using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. The average motivation score increased by 23.94 points, from 53.95 in the pretest to 77.89 in the posttest, according to the results.   The hypothesis test revealed a statistically significant change in students' motivation to study before and after the implementation of the Make A Match learning paradigm, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). These results imply that the Make A Match methodology increases students' motivation to acquire Pancasila Education by creating a more engaging, cooperative, and joyful learning environment. As a result, the learning model Make A Match can be regarded as a successful teaching method for raising primary school pupils' motivation to learn.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the conceptual understanding of third-grade students at SDN 09 Saruaso regarding the Pancasila Education subject. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through direct observation, brief interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that among the 12 student subjects, six fell into the medium category with a reasonably good level of understanding, four were in the high category demonstrating the ability to understand and apply Pancasila values independently while two remained in the low category due to difficulties in grasping concepts deeply and relating them to real-world contexts. Factors influencing student understanding include teaching methods, learning media, motivation, and student engagement. The study provides empirical insights to assist teachers in designing more innovative and contextual learning strategies and offers a basis for schools to develop teacher training programs aimed at continuously improving the quality of Pancasila Education instruction.
