Abstract

To ensure strong food security, regeneration becomes important and plays a real economic role. This research analyzes the influence of parents' expectations, the area of land owned by parents, technology, and the type of livestock business on young people’s interest in becoming farmers in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency. The sample consisted of 60 young people analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. the results show that the parent's expectations and the area of land owned by parents and technology influence the youth's interest in becoming farmers. At the same time, the type of farming variable did not affect the youth's interest in becoming farmers while the type of farming does not. These results show that to ensure farmer regeneration, strong encouragement is needed to ensure welfare, family motivation, and the role of technology in the agricultural sector. Therefore, support from all elements of society is needed to ensure the regeneration of farmers.

Abstract

Agriculture is a sector characterized by uncertainty and high risk. One of the government policies aimed at mitigating this risk is the farm insurance program. Karangsari Village in Kembaran is one of the areas that actively implements this program. However, participation in farm insurance in Karangsari Village is not optimal. This study aims to analyze the influence of age, education, farmers' activeness in groups, farming experience, land area, and land ownership status on participation in farm insurance. These characteristics are considered distinguishing variables that are thought to affect farmer participation. The samples for this study were determined using Taro Yamane. The analysis method employed is logistic regression to assess how age, education, farmers' activeness in groups, farming experience, land area, and land ownership status impact participation in farm insurance. The results showed that age, education, and farming experience did not have a significant effect on farmers' participation in farm insurance, while farmers' activeness in groups, land area, and land ownership status did have a significant effect. In this context, farmers with potential agricultural assets are more likely to participate in farm insurance.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between manufacturing value-added, GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product), and population growth on the labor participation rate in the region. The sample comprises 16 provinces in total. It consists of 10 provinces that experienced economic growth rates lower than the national growth rate between 2017 and 2019. The remaining six provinces have economic growth that exceeded the average national economic growth from 2017 to 2019. These 6 provinces are located on Java Island, and the other 10 provinces are located outside Java Island. Thus, we also added the province location variable to our analysis. We employed panel data regression to estimate the data. This study finds that the region’s economic and population growth substantially impacts the region’s labor participation rate. While the manufacturing value-added, the labor productivity rate, and the location do not significantly affect the labor participation rate of the region. Since economic and population growth are significant factors influencing labor force participation, some government policies should prioritize promoting sustainable economic development and attracting people to the province. The result of the study on the effect of manufacturing value-added and labor productivity shows that it has no impact on labor participation rates. This suggests that policies aimed solely at boosting manufacturing output or labor productivity may not automatically translate into higher labor force participation. Policymakers should, therefore, diversify their focus to other sectors, such as services or technology, that might better encourage workforce engagement.
