Abstract

The church has the responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelistic ministry that is responsive to the needs of society. However, the implementation of evangelistic mission faces various challenges that require churches to develop contextual ministry strategies while actively involving the entire congregation. This study aims to describe the role of GEKI MRC Medan Marelan Church in carrying out its evangelistic mission and to identify the forms of ministry that support the implementation of this mission. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research participants consisted of church members, cell group leaders, and church ministry leaders. The findings reveal that GEKI MRC Medan Marelan Church plays an active role in conducting various evangelistic activities, including seminars, Bible study, social outreach, pastoral home visits, and community-based programs involving local residents. These activities encourage congregational participation in ministry while expanding the reach of the Gospel through relational and contextual approaches. The findings also indicate that the active involvement of church members strengthens the relationship between the church and the community and enhances the effectiveness of evangelistic ministry. The study implies that churches should continue to develop innovative, participatory, and adaptive evangelistic strategies in response to social changes so that evangelistic ministry remains relevant and generates a positive impact on both the congregation and the wider community.

Abstract

The role of pastoral integrity in fostering the spiritual growth of the congregation at GPdI Kasih Karunia Tebing Tinggi is an important subject of study. This research aims to: (1) determine the level of pastoral integrity at GPdI Kasih Karunia Tebing Tinggi; (2) identify the condition of the congregation's spiritual growth; and (3) analyze and empirically examine the influence of pastoral integrity on the spiritual growth of the congregation at GPdI Kasih Karunia Tebing Tinggi. This study employed a quantitative research method by distributing questionnaires to church members to collect data. Since the sample size consisted of fewer than 50 respondents, the Shapiro–Wilk test was used to assess data normality. The results of the Shapiro–Wilk residual test indicated a significance value of 0.177 for Variable X and 0.386 for Variable Y. As both significance values exceeded 0.05, the data were considered to be normally distributed. The findings revealed that pastoral integrity has a significant positive influence on the spiritual growth of the congregation by providing exemplary leadership and fostering trust within the church community. The study confirmed a significant relationship between pastoral integrity (X) and the spiritual growth of the congregation at GPdI Kasih Karunia Tebing Tinggi (Y), with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.627 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 39.4%. This indicates that pastoral integrity accounts for 39.4% of the variance in the congregation's spiritual growth, while the remaining 60.6% is explained by other variables beyond the scope of this research model.

Abstract

Discipleship is one of the church's main strategies in shaping the spiritual maturity of the congregation amidst the challenges of modern life that can cause stagnation in faith growth and weaken spiritual commitment. Through a continuous process of development, discipleship is expected to help the congregation grow in their knowledge of Christ, character, and the practice of living faith in accordance with biblical teachings. This study aims to analyze the influence of discipleship on the spiritual maturity of the congregation at the Shalom Belawan Gospel Spreading Church. The study used a quantitative method with a survey approach. The study population consisted of 40 congregants consisting of 18 men and 22 women aged 17–55 years. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that discipleship had a positive effect on the spiritual maturity of the congregation with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.339. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.115 indicated that discipleship contributed 11.5% to the spiritual maturity of the congregation, while 88.5% was influenced by other factors outside the study. These findings indicate that discipleship plays a role in supporting spiritual growth through ongoing teaching, character development, and faith mentoring. Therefore, churches need to develop planned and systematic discipleship programs to improve the quality of congregational development while strengthening their spiritual maturity.
