Abstract

Mental health has become one of the most critical issues in modern society due to increasing psychological pressures, social competition, technological dependency, and weakening spiritual awareness. This study aims to examine the relevance of Sufi values in maintaining mental health within contemporary social life. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature review and contextual analysis of Sufi teachings related to emotional well-being, spiritual resilience, and psychological balance. Data were collected from classical Islamic literature, contemporary psychological studies, and scholarly discussions concerning spirituality and mental health. The findings indicate that Sufi values such as dhikr (remembrance of God), tawakkul (trust in God), sabr (patience), zuhud (moderation toward worldly attachment), and tazkiyat al-nafs (self-purification) significantly contribute to emotional stability, stress reduction, and psychological resilience. These spiritual practices help individuals manage anxiety, strengthen self-awareness, develop meaningful life perspectives, and maintain positive social relationships. The study also reveals that Sufi teachings provide holistic approaches integrating spiritual, emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of human well-being. In addition, collective spiritual practices within Sufi communities contribute to social support and emotional connectedness, which are important factors in mental health maintenance. Despite modern misconceptions that Sufism is outdated or detached from contemporary realities, the findings demonstrate that Sufi values remain highly relevant for addressing existential crises and psychological challenges in modern society. Therefore, integrating Sufi principles into educational, social, and mental health frameworks may offer valuable strategies for promoting emotional balance and spiritual well-being in contemporary life.

Abstract

Fiqh learning in Islamic boarding schools is generally still dominated by lecture methods and the use of yellow books without harakat, especially on the material of buying and selling, usury, and khiyar in the Book of Fathul Qorib. This condition causes students to experience difficulties in understanding the material independently and has an impact on low independence and learning comprehension. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Android-based Fiqh learning e-module using Sigil Software and test its level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a development research (Research and Development) using the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of eighth grade students of Miftahul Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School. Data collection techniques used expert validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and pretest and posttest tests. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results of the study showed that the developed e-module had a very valid level of validity based on the assessment of material experts (92.5%), media experts (86.54%), and language experts (92.5%). The practicality of the e-module is categorized as very practical based on practitioner assessments (95%) and student responses in small group trials (96.67%). The effectiveness of the e-module shows an increase in student learning outcomes with an N-Gain value of 0.808, which is in the high category. Thus, the developed Android-based Fiqh learning e-module is declared valid, practical, and effective as a supporting teaching material for Fiqh learning in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine sociologically how innovative principal leadership combined with charismatic authority can increase the competitiveness of Islamic Elementary Schools. Using a qualitative case study approach, this study was conducted at Islamic Elementary School Ma'arif NU 01 Gancang, which is designated as an Islamic Elementary School. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal, teachers, education staff, and school committee, as well as document analysis and academic profiles. The research findings indicate that the principal not only carries out standard managerial functions, but simultaneously develops strategic project-based innovations and fosters collective legitimacy and commitment through inspiring role models and extensive social networks. This study found three main findings: first, the emerging innovations are responsive to the challenges of the times (digitalization, curriculum autonomy, job market needs) and are more directed towards structured innovations in governance, learning, and partnerships; Second, the charismatic authority of the principal is built through convincing communication competencies, personal role models, and strong social networks with the education office, the business world, and the surrounding community; Third, the combination of innovation and charisma has been proven to increase organizational cohesion and motivation of school residents which leads to consistent improvements in academic and non-academic achievements at the regional and national levels. This study concludes that the principal of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah plays a role as an agent of change who simultaneously carries out two logics at once: managerial-rational logic (innovation) and cultural-symbolic logic (charismatic authority). These findings enrich the theory of educational leadership and the practice of superior school management in Indonesia.
