Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed pharmaceutical services by improving efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making quality. This journal review aims to analyze the development of AI implementation in pharmacy services, compare research methods, and identify its benefits, limitations, and future opportunities. The method used was a Narrative Literature Review of ten scientific articles published between 2023 and 2026, collected from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and IEEE Xplore. The review found that AI technologies, including Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, and Predictive Analytics, can improve the accuracy of drug demand forecasting, reduce medication errors, optimize inventory management, and support clinical pharmacy services. However, most studies still focus on model development or simulations, so real-world implementation in pharmacy practice remains limited. Overall, AI has strong potential to support the digital transformation of pharmacy services, although further validation and readiness of human resources are still needed.

Abstract

Abstract Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.) is a Zingiberaceae plant widely used in Indonesian traditional medicine. Its rhizome contains flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and essential oil, which are associated with antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory bioactivities. This narrative literature review summarizes findings from studies published between 2021 and 2024 on the phytochemical content and antimicrobial activity of kencur rhizome, as a basis for planning further experimental research. Literature was searched on Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Garuda using the keywords “Kaempferia galanga”, “kencur”, “antibacterial”, “antifungal”, and “phytochemical”, limited to publications from 2020-2025. Results show that ethanolic extracts and essential oils of kencur rhizome consistently produced inhibition zones against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and suppressed the growth of Candida albicans. This effect is likely related to the ability of flavonoids and alkaloids to disrupt microbial membrane permeability. Kencur is a promising candidate for a natural antimicrobial agent, warranting further experimental confirmation of its effectiveness and safety.
