This article examines the challenges and opportunities of cross-cultural leadership in Indonesia in the context of Industry 4.0. Indonesia is a particularly important setting for this discussion because its organizational life is shaped simultaneously by ethnic, linguistic, religious, regional, and institutional diversity, while its economic and public sectors are increasingly exposed to digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, data-driven decision making, and platform-based coordination. Building on an expanded integrative literature review, this manuscript synthesizes scholarship on cross-cultural leadership, cultural intelligence, digital leadership, transformational leadership, and Industry 4.0, while using an Indonesian-language article on cross-cultural leadership in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era as the foundational source material. The analysis identifies five major challenge clusters: cultural complexity and communication ambiguity, leader self-adaptation and resistance to change, digital capability gaps, tensions between hierarchical leadership traditions and agile innovation, and ethical-trust issues in technologically mediated organizations. The article also identifies six opportunity clusters: diversity-enabled innovation, global and local market responsiveness, inclusive talent development, improved organizational learning, conflict transformation, and long-term sustainability. The central contribution of this article is an integrative framework of culturally intelligent digital leadership, consisting of four mutually reinforcing capabilities: cultural sensemaking, inclusive alignment, adaptive digital orchestration, and ethical learning. The framework suggests that effective leadership in Indonesia's Industry 4.0 context requires more than technical competence or general leadership charisma. It requires the capacity to translate cultural diversity into collaborative intelligence, to govern digital transformation inclusively, and to sustain trust across culturally heterogeneous and technologically mediated work systems.
