Abstract

Anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women is a common psychological issue as childbirth approaches. High levels of anxiety can adversely affect the well-being of both the mother and the fetus. Prenatal yoga is a non-pharmacological intervention proven effective in reducing anxiety during pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze and review literature regarding the impact of prenatal yoga on reducing anxiety levels in third-trimester pregnant women. A literature review method was employed, with the article selection process following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines; this process comprised four stages: identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. Articles were sourced from the Google Scholar database using a combination of the keywords "prenatal yoga," "anxiety," and "pregnancy." Subsequently, duplicate articles were removed, screening was conducted based on titles and abstracts, and eligibility was assessed through full-text review. Articles meeting the inclusion criteria were then evaluated for methodological quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist. Articles that passed the quality assessment were included in the final synthesis to analyze the role of prenatal yoga in reducing anxiety among pregnant women. Based on the literature review results, it can be concluded that prenatal yoga is effective in reducing anxiety in pregnant women.
