Abstract

This study critically analyzes how the Yogyakarta Palace integrates traditional administrative systems and modern business administration within its governance structure, evaluating its potential to balance cultural preservation with organizational efficiency. Employing a qualitative approach with an organizational ethnography design, the analysis involved participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Results show that the Palace adopts a hybrid governance model and normatively acknowledges the need for modernization, with cultural leadership remaining central to decision-making. However, crucial operational tensions and a clash of institutional logics remain significantly prevalent. Identified challenges include the friction between traditional devotion and professional merit, the rigid formalization of royal decrees into standardized operating procedures, and the dilemma between cultural sacrality and measured commodification. The study concludes that while the integration of modern administrative tools offers a strong operational foundation, its efficacy in fostering genuinely adaptive cultural governance depends on a continuous process of Vernacular Modernization. Ultimately, this research produces the Javanese Cultural Hybrid Governance Framework to realize the transformative potential and sustainability of traditional monarchical institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation reshapes organizational communication within the seven operational clusters of the Warung Tegal (Warteg) "Bahari" franchise in South Jakarta. While the network historically relied on informal coordination and manual bookkeeping, the introduction of ERP marks a strategic shift toward synchronized digital workflows. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 14 key informants, including franchisors, coordinators, and managers, alongside participant observations and document reviews. The findings reveal that ERP significantly enhances communication clarity and managerial transparency through real-time data flow and standardized reporting, effectively reducing the miscommunication common in manual systems. However, optimal implementation is hindered by critical barriers such as uneven digital literacy, limited training, and unstable internet connectivity. Furthermore, resistance to abandoning long-standing manual habits remains a challenge. The study concludes that while ERP provides a foundation for an accountable franchise model, its success depends on adaptive leadership and continuous digital capacity-building. These results offer practical insights for digital transformation in community-based culinary enterprises.
