Abstract

Children's attachment is a fundamental emotional bond that plays a crucial role in shaping socio-emotional development and children's relationships with their social environment. However, difficulties in social interaction, emotional regulation, empathy, and adaptation remain common among young children and are often associated with the quality of attachment they experience. This study aims to comprehensively examine the relationship between children's attachment and their interactions within family, school, and broader social environments. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA framework by synthesizing peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2022 and 2025. The findings indicate that secure attachment positively influences children's emotional regulation, empathy, self-confidence, communication skills, cooperation, and social adaptation. In contrast, insecure attachment is associated with emotional insecurity, social withdrawal, low self-esteem, and difficulties in establishing healthy interpersonal relationships. The review further highlights that attachment extends beyond parent–child relationships to include teachers and other significant adults who contribute to children's social development. Overall, secure attachment serves as a fundamental foundation for fostering healthy social relationships, emphasizing the importance of collaborative support among families, schools, and communities to promote children's holistic development.

Abstract

Social-emotional development is a crucial aspect of early childhood development as it influences children’s ability to regulate emotions, interact with others, and adapt to various social situations. However, many young children experience socio-emotional problems and developmental barriers that may affect their future growth and well-being. This study aims to identify and analyze the problems and barriers to social-emotional development in early childhood based on findings from previous studies. The research employed a qualitative library research method through a systematic review of relevant scientific articles on early childhood socio-emotional development. The findings indicate that common socio-emotional problems include poor emotional regulation, difficulties in peer interaction, social anxiety, aggressive behavior, social withdrawal, low self-confidence, and limited abilities in cooperation and empathy. These barriers are influenced by multiple factors such as inappropriate parenting styles, unsupportive social environments, negative peer experiences, excessive gadget use, and insufficient socio-emotional stimulation. The study concludes that emotional regulation is a central factor in determining children’s socio-emotional development outcomes. Therefore, active involvement from families, schools, and the wider community is essential to provide appropriate support and stimulation to optimize early childhood socio-emotional development.

Abstract

Social-emotional development is a crucial aspect of early childhood education because it influences a child's ability to interact, manage emotions, build social relationships, and adapt to their environment. Optimal social-emotional development will form the basis for character formation, learning readiness, and future social success. This study aims to analyze the social-emotional development of early childhood, identify influencing factors, examine effective development strategies, and understand the roles of family, school, and the environment in supporting children's social-emotional development. The study used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with reference to the PRISMA guidelines. Data were obtained through the analysis of 30 relevant scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025. The research stages included identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of research findings that align with the study's focus. The results indicate that parenting styles are the most dominant factor influencing the social-emotional development of early childhood. In addition, play methods, role-playing, traditional games, social-emotional learning (SEL), and positive social interactions have been shown to be effective in improving children's empathy, cooperation, communication, discipline, and emotional regulation. Challenges identified include a lack of appropriate stimulation, differing parenting styles, uncontrolled gadget use, and an unsupportive environment. Therefore, strong synergy between families, educators, and the community is needed to optimize children's social and emotional development as a crucial foundation for future social and educational life.
