Abstract

Back pain is one of the most common complaints experienced by postpartum mothers, primarily due to changes in posture during pregnancy and the labor process. Non-pharmacological management, such as effleurage massage with the aid of essential oils, is believed to effectively reduce pain levels. This study aims to determine the level of back pain in postpartum mothers before and after the administration of effleurage massage using lemongrass and eucalyptus essential oils, and to analyze the effect of this therapy on reducing back pain at the Gambir Baru Public Health Center (Puskesmas). This study utilized a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 postpartum mothers who met the inclusion criteria, selected using a total sampling technique. The pain measurement instrument used was the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale (VAS) observation sheet. Effleurage massage combined with lemongrass and eucalyptus essential oils is proven effective in reducing back pain in postpartum mothers. This therapy can serve as an alternative non-pharmacological intervention in postpartum midwifery care.

Abstract

Abstract: Ciplukan leaves (Physalis angulate) are a plant that has many benefits to society, one of which is anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is a process in the body to respond to infection or tissue damage. This research aims to test the anti-inflammatory effectiveness of ciplukan leaf extract. Ciplukan leaves contain flavonoids and tannins which are effective in inhibiting the cyclooxygenase pathway which can inhibit inflammation. The results showed that the percentage inhibition results of the sodium diclofenac gel group had a percentage of 93.11%, the 20% ciplukan leaf ethanol extract gel group had a percentage of 79.85%, the 25% ciplukan leaf ethanol extract gel group had a percentage of 81.36%, and the 30% ciplukan leaf ethanol extract gel group had a percentage of 89.95%. These results indicate that the method applied provides accurate and precise results. The results of the study can be concluded that from the three formulations of ciplukan leaf ethanol extract gels that have the highest percentage results are in the 30% ciplukan leaf ethanol extract formulation. Keywords: anti-inflammatory, gel, ground cherry leaves   Abstrak: Daun ciplukan (Physalis angulate) merupakan tanamannyang memiliki banyaknmanfaat pada masyarakat, salah satunya sebagai antiinflamasi.
