Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of adaptive training programs in improving the physical fitness of children with special needs by implementing an adaptive physical education learning model for students with special needs. The adaptive learning model is used to examine the effectiveness of adaptive training programs in improving the physical fitness of children with special needs. The research method used was an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were a number of children with special needs who participated in an adaptive training program for a certain period. The data collection instrument was a physical fitness test that included strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests to compare the results before and after the treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in physical fitness after participating in the adaptive training program. These findings indicate that adaptive training programs are effective in helping children with special needs improve their physical condition, while also providing psychological benefits in the form of increased self-confidence and motivation to be active. Thus, adaptive training programs can be used as an alternative approach to inclusive physical education that is oriented towards individual needs.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the traditional hopscotch game (engklek) on the long jump ability of fourth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 060885 Medan Baru. This study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population consisted of all 29 fourth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 060885 Medan Baru, and the entire population was used as the sample through a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a long jump performance test and observation. Long jump ability was assessed based on four indicators, namely approach, takeoff, flight, and landing, along with the measurement of jumping distance. The intervention using the traditional engklek game was conducted in four sessions, with activities designed to train one-foot jumping, takeoff strength, balance, movement coordination, and landing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Paired Samples T-Test. The results showed that the mean score of basic long jump techniques increased from 7.55 in the pretest to 11.66 in the posttest, while the mean jumping distance increased from 1.4669 meters to 1.7817 meters. The Paired Samples T-Test results showed a t-value of -45.209 with a significance value of 0.000 for the technical score, while the jumping distance showed a t-value of -37.405 with a significance value of 0.000. Thus, there was a significant difference in students' long jump ability before and after participating in the engklek game.
