Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of excellent service management at Al Mu’minien Modern Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and explore strategies to improve the quality of educational services in Islamic educational institutions. This research employed a qualitative field research approach with a descriptive analytical design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature review. The main informant of this study was the pesantren operator responsible for administrative services and student data management. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data triangulation was applied to ensure the credibility of the findings. The results show that the implementation of service management in the pesantren reflects the five dimensions of the SERVQUAL model: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. These dimensions are manifested in the availability of adequate facilities, structured educational programs, responsive communication with parents, transparent financial management, and personal guidance for students. The study also identifies several challenges related to limited digital infrastructure, variations in human resource competencies, and financial constraints. These findings indicate that improving service quality plays an important role in strengthening institutional credibility and increasing public trust in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of educational management in Islamic boarding schools (Islamic Boarding School ) from historical and digital perspectives, using Buntet Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon as a case study. Employing a qualitative-descriptive design with a historical approach, the research integrates literature review, field observation, and semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal three significant transformation dimensions: (1) the digitalization of management systems through applications such as Simapel and SIMATREN, which enhance accountability, transparency, and institutional efficiency; (2) curriculum transformation that integrates classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) with modern digital pedagogy, improving students' religious and technological literacy; and (3) the strengthening of Islamic Boarding School -based academic culture through research development, publication, and digital literacy training. The study concludes that the managerial transformation of Islamic Boarding School is not merely a response to modernization but an adaptive effort to harmonize spirituality and digital innovation in a hybrid management model. Recommendations include expanding digital literacy programs, training educators in educational technology, and fostering collaboration with external institutions to sustain innovation. This research contributes to the global discourse on Islamic educational management by demonstrating how faith-based schools can balance tradition and technological progress within a culturally grounded framework.

Abstract

Character education has become an important concern in elementary education due to the increasing need to develop students’ moral, social, and religious values alongside academic achievement. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Brain Based Learning (BBL) assisted by picture media in character building, examine its effect on students’ character formation, and explore its relevance to Islamic Religious Education values. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design involving 50 fifth-grade students of SD Karakter 2 Gunung Puteri, Bogor Regency, consisting of an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The findings indicate that the implementation of Brain Based Learning assisted by picture media positively contributed to students’ character development by creating active, meaningful, and enjoyable learning experiences. Various character aspects, including responsibility, honesty, respect, tolerance, perseverance, and love of God, showed positive development during the learning process. Statistical analysis revealed that Brain Based Learning and picture media had a positive and significant effect on character formation, both partially and simultaneously. Furthermore, the developed character values were closely related to the objectives of Islamic Religious Education, particularly in fostering faith, morality, responsibility, cooperation, tolerance, and noble character. These findings suggest that Brain Based Learning assisted by picture media can serve as an effective instructional strategy for strengthening character education while supporting the internalization of Islamic values in elementary school students.
