Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the construction of psychological well-being through local cultural values among communities in Puding Besar District, Bangka Regency, Indonesia, using perspectives from social psychology and cultural sociology. The study employed a qualitative approach with an interpretative phenomenological design. Participants consisted of 15 community members selected through purposive sampling based on their active involvement in local social and cultural activities. Additional key informants included community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and village officials. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), involving coding, theme identification, and interpretation of participants’ lived experiences. The findings revealed five major themes contributing to psychological well-being: local culture as a source of identity and meaning in life, mutual cooperation as a mechanism of psychosocial support, kinship relationships as a foundation of emotional security, togetherness as a promoter of social cohesion, and cultural preservation as a form of self-actualization and sustainable well-being. The study concludes that psychological well-being is a socio-cultural construct shaped through the internalization of local cultural values that strengthen identity, social capital, emotional support, and meaning in life within the community.

Abstract

Masyarakat Adat Mapur di Pulau Bangka secara historis mengalami marginalisasi administratif akibat ketiadaan pengakuan formal atas sistem religi lokal mereka dalam dokumen kependudukan. Meskipun Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi Nomor 97/PUU-XIV/2016 telah memberikan legalitas bagi penghayat kepercayaan, implementasi di tingkat akar rumput masih terhambat oleh kompleksitas birokrasi, jarak geografis dan minimnya literasi hukum. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat identitas hukum dan memulihkan hak sipil Orang Mapur di Dusun Aik Abik melalui tindakan advokasi, sosialisasi, dan pendampingan partisipatif. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development yang berfokus pada pemanfaatan aset sosiokultural lokal berupa Gebong Memarong sebagai episentrum pergerakan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi multipihak yang melibatkan Disdukcapil, pemerintah kecamatan, pemerintah desa, sektor swasta, dan lembaga adat berhasil mengikis keraguan sosiologis (pseudo-identity) dan membangun kesadaran hukum warga. Melalui strategi pendampingan langsung (door-to-door) dan posko pelayanan kolektif, tim berhasil melakukan inventarisasi, verifikasi, dan validasi berkas administrasi kependudukan yang sah bersama Lembaga Adat Mapur. Program ini tidak hanya memangkas rantai birokrasi formal, tetapi juga berhasil menginisiasi pemulihan hak-hak sipil dasar komunitas adat sekaligus memperkuat resiliensi kebudayaan mereka dari ancaman eksklusi sosial di era modern.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of traditional administration in shaping and maintaining the collective identity of the Gebong Memarong indigenous community in Bangka Regency. Amidst the challenges of modernization, previous studies have predominantly focused on agrarian conflicts and legal recognition, leaving a research gap regarding the role of traditional administration as a basis for identity reproduction. Employing a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that traditional administration is not merely a social regulation mechanism but a primary instrument for social integration through customary deliberation, leadership, and cultural rituals. From Talcott Parsons’ structural-functionalist perspective, traditional administration performs the integrated functions of Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency (AGIL) to maintain community resilience. These findings emphasize that strengthening local institutions is key to negotiating cultural identity amidst modern bureaucratic pressures. Academically, this study enriches sociological discourse on the resilience of traditional institutions, while practically providing a foundation for indigenous protection policies through the recognition of local governance systems.
