Abstract

Cancer is a disease with a high incidence rate in the world and is the main cause of death, as well as causing complications, one of which is malignant wounds which cause an unpleasant odor due to the process of tissue necrosis and infection.. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of activated carbon solution in reducing odor in cancer patients in the surgical room of Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital in 2025. This study uses a research designquasi experimental design with non-equivalent with control group design pre-post-test.The population of this study consisted of all patients treated in the surgical ward of Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital. The sampling technique in this study was carried out usingtechnicianrandom block sampling. Using a sample of 60person Data were collected after obtaining ethical approval and hospital permission for cancer patients. Data collection was carried out by measuring wound odor using an activated charcoal solution.using the NRS-B (Numerical Rating Scale for Odor) score analysis was carried out using statistical testsMann Withnay (Non normal distribution). Research result The median odor score in the intervention group was5 (3-9),while in the control group was 6 (3-9).Statistical analysis with nonparametric tests shows the value ofp < 0,000, which indicates a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These results indicate that activated charcoal solution can significantly reduce odor scores compared to the group that did not receive intervention.. mark p < 0,000, which indicates that the difference in smell scores between pre-test and post-test in the intervention group is more significant than in the control group.This study shows that administering activated charcoal solution has a significant effect on reducing wound odor in cancer patients.The results of this study are expected to be the basis for developing evidence-based nursing practices in palliative care, particularly in the management of smelly cancer wounds.

Abstract

Cancer patients undergoing surgery have a high risk of delayed wound healing, which can result in increased length of stay (LOS) and increased costs and the risk of complications.. through modern wound care can accelerate post-operative wound healing and shorten patient LOS. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of wound care methods on post-operative wound healing time and LOS in cancer patients. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design with a post-test only. The sample usedrandom block samplingat Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital using 60 respondents. The research design was pre-experimental with two group posttest. The sampling technique used block random and obtained 60 cancer patients at Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital. Data were collected after obtaining ethical approval and hospital permission from postoperative cancer patients treated in the operating room of Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital. Data collection was carried out through observation of wound care methods and assessment of wound healing time using standardized observation sheets, as well as searching electronic medical records to obtain length of stay (LOS) data. Wound healing time was calculated from the first day of treatment until the wound was declared healed. analysis was carried out using statistical testsMann Withnay (Non normal distribution). Results study show thatThere is an influence of modern wound care on post-operative wound healing time and LOS in cancer patients in the surgical ward of Dr M Djamil Padang General Hospital in 2025.

Abstract

The waiting time for patient transfer from the Emergency Department (ER) to the inpatient ward is an important indicator in hospital health services. This process reflects the efficiency and effectiveness of the service flow, and can affect patient satisfaction, safety, and overall service quality. Delays in patient transfer are often a problem that has the potential to increase the risk of medical complications, prolong the length of stay, and increase the workload of health workers. This study aims to determine the predictive factors for patient transfer time from the ER to the inpatient (a case study in the ER Room of Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital. This study uses an observational analytical quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study is proportional random sampling. The sample consisted of all 283 patients transferred from the Emergency Department (ER) to the ward at Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital, with specified inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through interviews and observations. Bivariate data analysis used Smart PLS to determine predictive factors for patient transfer waiting time from the ER to the ward. The results showed that ER factors significantly influenced System Factors and Room Factors, but did not directly influence patient transfer time.

Abstract

WHO 2020 data shows a Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) of 223 per 100,000. The Indonesian Health Profile in 2023, MMR in Indonesia is 189 per 100,000 live births. The most common causes of death are hypertension in pregnancy (412 cases), obstetric hemorrhage (360 cases) and other obstetric complications (204 cases). Preeclampsia is the most common hypertension in pregnancy in Indonesia, 7-10% of all pregnancies. Preeclampsia causes >70,000 maternal deaths and 500,000 fetal deaths worldwide each year. This study aims to explore in depth the obstacles and constraints in the management of severe preeclampsia at Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital in 2025. Qualitative research methods. Informants were selected purposively with the following criteria: medical and nursing service managers, obstetrician/gynecologist specialists, midwives and nurses (in the emergency room or delivery room, obstetrics polyclinic, obstetrics inpatient, operating room, intensive care unit, and NICU), working for at least 1 year, directly involved in the management of severe preeclampsia, patients or their families. The number of informants was determined based on the saturation principle. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, field observations, document analysis, and FGDs. Data collection instruments used interview guidelines, voice recorders (with permission), and field notes. The analysis used was thematic. Data validity was verified by triangulation. Research results: Main strengths: the system is standardized (SOP, financing, evaluation). Main weaknesses: human resources, facilities, communication, and logistics. Biggest opportunities: strengthening the referral system and increasing human resources capacity. The main threat of patient overload due to referrals and delays in PEB management is influenced by several factors, including input, process, and output aspects of the healthcare system. Abstract

Nursing care quality is an important indicator in assessing healthcare service quality, particularly in surgical wards with high service complexity. Several factors such as competence, supervision, and workload are assumed to influence nursing care quality. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with nursing care quality in the surgical ward at Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital Padang in 2025. This study used an analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 96 nurses selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using structured s and analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. The validity test showed that all questionnaire items on competence, supervision, workload, and nursing care quality variables were declared valid because the r-count values were higher than the r-table value (0.361). Meanwhile, the reliability test results indicated that all variables had Cronbach’s Alpha values greater than 0.70, meaning that the research instrument was reliable and appropriate for data collection. The results showed that 50% of nursing care quality was categorized as good. Most respondents had good competence (66.7%), good supervision (56.2%), and heavy workload (57.3%). Bivariate analysis showed that supervision and workload were significantly associated with nursing care quality (p < 0.05), while competence was not significantly associated (p = 0.279). Multivariate analysis showed that supervision was the most dominant factor influencing nursing care quality (p = 0.046; OR = 3.03).
