Abstract

This study aims to analyze fishermen's strategies in dealing with climate change in Gampong Ujong Blang, Lhokseumawe City. Climate change has had an impact on fishermen's fishing activities, such as seasonal shifts, changes in current patterns and ocean waves. To survive, fishermen implement various strategies, such as side jobs, involving family members in work, setting aside money to save, and taking advantage of government assistance. However, there are several obstacles faced in implementing the strategy, such as limited capital, low skills, and lack of government policy support. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the study show that fishermen's strategies in dealing with climate change are not only individual, but also involve local institutions, such as Panglima Laot. In addition, efforts to build the capacity of fishermen and support more comprehensive government policies are needed to ensure the sustainability of fishermen's livelihoods in the future.
