Abstract

The depiction of Super-Villain in Japanese Super Hero series usually showing the western country as the main villain. The result of World War II primarily influences this. Nevertheless, recently there have been several Super Hero Series that depicted the minorities as the main villain. The purpose of this study is to present the issue of minorities in the Japanese Super Hero Series. Through the cultural study approach, this paper will discuss how minorities being represented by the antagonist character, Roimudde. This study had two aims (i) how does the Roimudde representing the minorities in Japanese society. (ii) how the characters Heart and Medic represent that minorities were victims of society. We found that the Roimudde was a different race from humans representing the minorities through content analysis of the Children television series Kamen Rider Drive. At the same time, Heart and Medic have painful memories that made them grudge toward humanity. It is also mean that this film was recognizing the minorities as the victim of prejudice by society. It is necessary to throw all prejudice to other people just because of physical or race differences to enter transnational society without prejudice.

Abstract

Research that carries the theme of cultural identity is always associated with identities that are formed and seen from ethnicity, race, country, and the like. The purpose of this study is to reveal the cultural identity of fans in an internet-based fandom, especially on Twitter social media. The theories used are Hall and Barker's theory of cultural identity, Nagy-Koles' virtual identity theory, Jenkins' fan study, and McQuail's new media theory. The approach used to conduct this research is a qualitative approach, while the method used to conduct this research is participatory observation and interview that involved several fans that followed one of the Attacks on Titan’s fandom accounts, AOTFESS. In AOTFESS, the study later found out that their cultural identity is not always seen from literal symbols, but rather formed and then found through the interactivities of fans who follow the account. gb777gb777slot gacorgb777gb777GB777GB777slot gacorslot gacor

Abstract

The soft power diplomacy has been used by Japan since the end of WWII and post bubble economy, and was officialized as ‘Cool Japan’ program which includes all aspects of Japanese culture and cultural products. On the other hand, ‘city pop’, a genre popular in Japan around the 80’s, surfaced again in the 2020’s as a result of YouTube’s algorithm, and has been a trend on the internet with many global fans. The purpose of this research was to find out whether Japan city pop music trend contributes to Cool Japan program, with mixed method approach and data collecting method of online survey on Japan city pop fans in Indonesia. It is then concluded that Japan city pop has been contributing to Cool Japan by meeting it’s main goal and strategies of creating Japan’s image as a cool nation on its own.
gb777gb777slot gacorgb777gb777GB777GB777slot gacorslot gacor
