Abstract

Indonesia as a tropical country has a problem with a high mosquito population that has the potential to spread diseases such as Dengue Fever (DHF), so education regarding the use of natural ingredients as repellents is important. Essential oils are known to contain citronellal, geraniol and citronella which have anti-repellent properties. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase applied science literacy for high school students through the practice of making EDT perfume from essential oils of citronella, fennel and patchouli. The stages of the community service activity include preparation of infrastructure, education and training in making anti-repellent products, ending with mentoring, monitoring and evaluation of the results of the activity for students. Evaluation of the activity is measured through increased understanding from the results of the pretest and posttest questionnaires. The results of the community service activity show that students' understanding increased in the very good category from 86.5% to 100% after education and practice in making perfume.
