Abstract

Schizophrenia is frequently accompanied by auditory perceptual disturbances. Mozart’s musical intervention represents a non-drug approach that may help lessen those experiences. Accordingly, this quantitative investigation examined whether exposure to Mozart’s compositions could reduce auditory hallucination manifestations among psychiatric inpatients at the Aceh Mental Hospital. A quasi-experimental framework was adopted, involving one cohort assessed before and after treatment. The target population contained 518 patients, from which 15 individuals were recruited through purposive sampling. Assessment relied on the Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale (AHRS), while treatment fidelity was documented with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) sheet. Data collection took place at the Aceh Mental Hospital between July 9 and July 11, 2025. The Wilcoxon procedure produced a probability value of 0.001, below 0.05. Mean symptom scores declined from 9.73 before treatment to 7.00 afterward, demonstrating a meaningful change. These findings support the conclusion that Mozart-based musical exposure significantly reduces auditory hallucination symptoms. Psychiatric nurses and related health personnel may therefore incorporate this approach as an adjunctive measure for patients with schizophrenia. Subsequent studies should investigate its lasting impact by involving more participants and a wider variety of patient profiles.

Abstract

Rehabilitation of drug addicts serves as a form of social protection, aiming to reintegrate individuals into society and reduce relapse. This normative and descriptive legal research evaluates the effectiveness of rehabilitation in addressing drug abuse, especially in Aceh. The study identifies key success factors such as community and government support, holistic rehabilitation approaches, and robust post-rehabilitation programs. Challenges include limited facilities, stigma, and ineffective reintegration. The research concludes with recommendations to improve rehabilitation effectiveness through infrastructure development, education, inter-agency collaboration, and enhanced aftercare services.
