Abstract

Tension-Type Headache (TTH) is a common headache disorder that may worsen when associated with uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and its complications. This case describes a 51-year-old woman with chronic TTH, uncontrolled T2DM, diabetic neuropathy, and suspected retinopathy, compounded by stress, overweight, and excessive sugar intake. The objective was to present a holistic family medicine approach to address biomedical, psychological, and social aspects of her condition. The patient was assessed through comprehensive anamnesis, physical examination, laboratory evaluation, and family function assessment. Interventions included pharmacological therapy, dietary modification, stress management, and active family support. The results showed reduced headache frequency, better glycemic awareness, and improved coping through family engagement. In conclusion, a holistic family medicin e approach can enhance disease control and well-being in patients with TTH and uncontrolled T2DM by integrating lifestyle modification, psychosocial support, and continuous care.
