Abstract

The coastal areas of Tuban Regency have abundant coconut commodity potential, but its utilization by the community, particularly the PKK Women's Group in Panyuran Village, remains limited to the sale of raw materials, resulting in relatively low economic added value. This community service activity aims to empower PKK Women's Groups by providing outreach and training in the production of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), a value-added coconut product. The method used is to spread science and technology through counseling, demonstrations, hands-on training, and mentoring. The activity evaluation used pre- and post-activity questionnaires to assess changes in participants' knowledge, skills, and interests. The activity resulted in an improvement in participants' understanding of VCO, its health and economic benefits, and mastery of the basic stages of VCO production. The majority of participants stated that they could practice VCO production independently and were interested in starting VCO-based home businesses. This activity has benefited coastal communities by enhancing their capacity, opening up business opportunities based on local potential, and promoting economic empowerment and sustainable management of coconut resource.

Abstract

The erosion process can lead to a decline in productivity and the soil's carrying capacity for agricultural production, as well as environmental quality. During the 2025 rainy season, Rengel became a hot topic on social media due to the flash floods that consistently occurred after heavy rains. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how different land uses contribute to erosion incidents in the Rengel subdistrict, Tuban Regency. Four land use categories were noted: rice fields, maize-chili, teak-maize agroforestry, and forests. Survey and laboratory analysis techniques were employed in this investigation. According to the calculations, the most severe erosion occurs in dryland areas. The degree of erosion risk is greatly influenced by land usage. Erosion in Rengel Village is considerably accelerated by the crop and soil conservation factors. The highest rates of erosion are found in dryland farming of 0.728 tons/ha/year. This situation is linked to a high C value, which indicates little plant cover and direct rainfall exposure of the soil's surface.
