Abstract

History as the major field of research that related with the political event, such as: throne seizure of throne, expansion, warfare and heroism for the sake of the group. For historical critics a variety of new worldviews dissect the past. One alternative approaches of the economy as a primary need. The civilization is not only measured by the splendor of the building and the territorial breadth, but also the prosperity of the economy. This is interesting to note, the fruit of past events, is felt now. The discourse of Islamic economic history is part of general economic history, needs to be developed. This paper focuses on the future writing of Islamic economic history and themes for historians and academics.

Abstract

This paper explores the role and political activities of kiai and pesantren in Berbek (present-day Nganjuk) during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the context of resistance to Dutch colonialism. Through a social and political history approach, this study explores how kiai and pesantren became the centre of the anti-colonial movement, spread ideas of freedom, and shaped nationalist identity in Berbek society. The results provide deep insights into how the anti-colonial movement developed and forged a strong network in an effort to achieve national independence.

Abstract

Artikel ini berusaha mengeksplorasi keterlibatan Mat Item, seorang bandit yang ditakuti di wilayah urban Jakarta, khususnya Tangerang, dengan aneka tindakan kriminal yang dilakukannya. Di satu sisi, apa yang dilakukannya adalah hasrat mandiri untuk bertahan di tengah situasi Indonesia yang sulit, akibat adanya serangan dari NICA (Nederlandsch Indische Civiele Administratie) yang dimulai sejak akhir 1945, namun di sisi lain muncul dugaan bahwa dirinya melakukan aneka tindakan kriminal untuk kepentingan kelompoknya saja. Data-data yang didapat diperoleh dari sejumlah pemberitaan dari koran yang terbit di kurun waktu yang dimaksud. Metode yang digunakan adalah model penelitian sejarah berbasis studi kepustakaan. Hasil yang didapat di antaranya adalah adanya bias kepentingan dalam diri Mat Item yang di satu sisi ingin melawan pendudukan NICA, di sisi lain, melakukan tindakan kejahatan untuk kepentingan pribadi.
