Abstract

The prevalence of stunted toddlers in Kupang district is still high, including in the partner area, namely Camplong-II village, Fatuleu sub-district. This village is one of the areas with sufficient water sources and adequate agricultural products, but a few stunted toddlers are still found. Adequate agricultural and livestock production does not guarantee that the nutritional status of toddlers will be good, even though sufficient food is available in the family, if the caregiver does not provide it according to the toddler's needs, the toddler will also experience malnutrition. Data from the Hamlet II Haumeni Posyandu, Camplong-II Village shows that there are 27 stunted toddlers (July 2022). The implementation of preventive promotive services for stunted toddlers or those at risk of stunting is intended as an effort to increase public knowledge about the prevention and handling of stunting. This activity aims to reduce stunting rates by providing counseling, cooking demonstrations, and distributing necessities. The output indicators are increasing knowledge about the prevention and handling of stunting and the use of food ingredients around for food menus. The expected output targets are increasing knowledge and skills of partners to serve nutritious food menus for toddlers and the availability of nutritious food ingredients for toddlers. The availability of protein and vegetable food sources is always needed by stunted toddler partners, so it is expected that two months after harvest, there will be an increase in the weight and height of stunted toddlers. Families who are intervened are expected to be a model for program duplication at other integrated health posts.

Abstract

Spontaneous pneumothorax can occur in a term neonate male through a wide variety of mechanisms, including traumatic disruption of the barriers between tissues and air, generation by infectious sources, or spontaneously through alveolar disruption. The maternal risk factor was anhydramnion with a bad obstetric history. Predisposing factors were male sex, neonate born by cesarean section, and the presence of respiratory distress syndrome. Conservative treatment was adopted for neonatal pneumothorax with mild symptoms, good general condition, and small pneumothorax. This included proper sedation, oxygen inhalation, and anti-infection therapy. If there is a presence of respiratory distress, abnormal blood gas levels, and cardiovascular instability, definitive management was evident, including expectant therapy, thoracentesis, or chest drainage. Early recognition and prompt treatment of pneumothorax were key to good outcomes in this case.

Abstract

Adrenal Crisis is an acute deterioration of adrenal insufficiency. This condition leads to an emergency condition. The major manifestation of adrenal crisis is hypotension and shock hypovolemic. Unspecified general manifestation would lead to misdiagnosis and suboptimal management of this condition. Comprehensive understanding, early diagnosis, and prompt management are important to prevent morbidity and mortality risks in children with adrenal crisis.

Abstract

Introduction: Diphtheria has been reported as an outbreak in some regions inIndonesia, most of the cases are from East Java. Objective: To describe the profile of toxigenic Corynebacterium diphtheriaeisolates in East Java. Methods. An descriptive study from August 20th -November 30th, 2018. Isolates was selected by cluster random sampling. The viability and toxigenicity testwere done in BBLK Surabaya. Viable and toxigenic isolates were done forcharacteristic analysis. Result: A total of 114 isolates, 6 were non-viable, 108 were viable and toxi-genic. The majority of the hosts were male (58,3%), median age 6,5-year-old(minimum 1, maximum 14-year-old), 50% from the 1-5-year-old age group. Highest origin of isolates from patients (78,7%) rather than carriers (21,3%).The most isolates from Madura (47,2%) and horseshoe area (20,4%). Most ofthem (74.1%) were taken from a pharyngeal swab rather than a nasal swab(25,4%). Mitis was 76,9% and gravis was 23,1%. Conclusion: In this study, the majority of toxigenic Corynebacterium diphtheriae were found in the 1-5-year-old age group and most of them domi-cile in Madura and horseshoe area. Most of the isolates were taken from apharyngeal swab of patients. Mitis was the major variant.
