Abstract

This study aims to analyze affective expressions and emotions in the song lyrics of "Tutur Batin" by Yura Yunita using a psycholinguistic perspective. The research focuses on how language in the lyrics portrays emotional conditions, inner conflicts, and the process of self-acceptance experienced by the lyrical subject. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques applied to the song lyrics. The data consist of words, phrases, and sentences containing affective and emotional elements, which are analyzed based on psycholinguistic theories concerning the relationship between language, thought, and emotion. The findings reveal that the lyrics of "Tutur Batin" express various affective states, including fear, disappointment, anxiety, hope, self-acceptance, and emotional calmness. The use of simple yet meaningful diction successfully represents the psychological dynamics of an individual undergoing inner struggles. Furthermore, the psycholinguistic aspect is reflected in the selection of reflective expressions that illustrate the cognitive and emotional processes involved in understanding oneself. This study demonstrates that songs can function as an effective medium of emotional communication while also reflecting the close relationship between language and human psychological conditions.

Abstract

The production of socially taboo words by a head of state in a public sphere triggers a cognitive clash within the speech processing architecture of both the speaker and the audience. This study aims to analyze psycholinguistically the viral speech of President Prabowo Subianto at the Peak Commemoration of the 79th Cooperative Day (July 2026), which contained the lexicon "bajingan". Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method with a psycholinguistic content analysis approach, this research isolates verbatim transcript data across a \(\pm \) 2-minute official state video recording. The analysis focuses on three cognitive phases: production, external validation, and cultural reconciliation. The results indicate that the utilization of the word "bajingan" was driven by high emotional arousal while discussing internal political party dynamics, confirming an internal monitor failure or limbic slip. To mitigate this cognitive error, the speaker performed social offloading through a spontaneous interaction with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education to dissolve audience tension. Furthermore, the speaker relied on personal long-term memory (claiming a Betawi dialect meaning affection) as a cognitive reconciliation strategy to overshadow historical sociolinguistic facts (the original Javanese etymology). This study provides a vital empirical contribution to speech production models within political discourse ecosystems, demonstrating that human cognitive architecture is highly adaptive in utilizing cultural framing to neutralize taboo language in public communication.
