Abstract

This community service activity conducted by the Defense Mechanical Engineering Study Program of the Military Academy aimed to improve public awareness of motorcycle maintenance and to provide free motorcycle service to the community. The activity was implemented through two main components, namely motorcycle maintenance counseling and periodic motorcycle servicing. The implementation ran smoothly and systematically in accordance with the planned schedule, supported by the readiness of the implementation team and adequate technical equipment. The results indicated that the target was successfully achieved, with a total of 70 motorcycles receiving free service. Furthermore, the level of community enthusiasm was very high, as reflected in the strong participation of residents, active involvement during the counseling sessions, and utilization of vehicle maintenance consultations. This activity provided direct benefits to the community by ensuring safer and more reliable motorcycle conditions, while also strengthening the role of higher education institutions in fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in community service.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan turbocharger terhadap peningkatan daya dan torsi pada mesin diesel 4JA-1. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen melalui pengujian performa mesin dalam dua kondisi, yaitu mesin diesel tanpa turbocharger dan mesin diesel menggunakan turbocharger. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan membandingkan nilai daya, torsi, dan kecepatan kendaraan pada masing-masing kondisi pengujian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan turbocharger mampu meningkatkan performa mesin secara signifikan. Pada mesin diesel dengan turbocharger diperoleh daya maksimum sebesar 76 Hp pada kecepatan 110 km/jam, sedangkan mesin tanpa turbocharger hanya menghasilkan 62 Hp. Nilai torsi tertinggi pada mesin diesel turbo mencapai 375 Nm pada kecepatan 60 km/jam, sedangkan mesin tanpa turbo hanya mencapai 310 Nm. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi karena turbocharger mampu meningkatkan suplai udara ke ruang bakar sehingga proses pembakaran menjadi lebih sempurna dan efisien. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan turbocharger berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan daya dan torsi mesin diesel tanpa perlu melakukan perubahan besar pada komponen utama mesin.
