Abstract

Backgrounds: Hypertension or Silent killer is a condition when the systolic pressure is measured 140 mmHg or the diastolic pressure is measured 90 mmHg. The prevalence of hypertension in Denpasar City is still quite high, with an estimated 177,627 hypertension sufferers in Denpasar City in 2019. One alternative treatment that can be an option to lower blood pressure is herbal therapy. Herbal therapy is complementary therapy using medicinal plants. Objective: The purpose of this research is to identify the characteristics of respondents, the perception of hypertension sufferers on the use of herbal medicines in the complementary therapy of hypertension and the types of herbs used in complementary therapy of hypertension. The type of research used is descriptive research with using a quantitative approach. Methods: Sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research sample is hypertensive patients who use conventional and complementary herbal combination therapy, age >17-65 years, using a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Data analysis is carried out using SPSS software. Results: The majority of hypertension sufferers are in the age range of 46-65 years (elderly) as many as 71 people (71%), female as many as 57 people (57%). Respondents who have a positive perception of 55% and who have a negative perception of 45%. The types of herbs used are cucumber, melon, watermelon, celery leaves, bay leaves, moringa leaves, meniran leaves, garlic and Ginger. Conclusion: The majority of hypertensive patients perceptions of drug use herbs in the complementary therapy of hypertension has a positive value. That means, respondents believe that herbs have benefits and can help reduce treatment costs. The most widely used types of herbs are:cucumber (40%) and celery leaves (30%). Abstract

Background: Telepharmacy appears to be a technology that represents a unique and innovative way to deliver quality pharmaceutical services to rural and regional areas in particular. Providing appropriate pharmaceutical services to patients and conducting consultations with other health workers have an important role in reducing the use of inappropriate and less effective drugs. The development of telepharmaceutical services can be influenced by the knowledge and practice of the community. Objective: to determine the relationship between knowledge and community practice on the use of telepharmaceutical services in Tabanan City. Methods: This research is an observational study using a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 100 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample was taken from the population using a purposive random sampling technique. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire (questionnaire), collecting data formally for the subject to answer questions in writing. Data were analyzed using computer software, namely the Chi-square test. Results: The respondents who have sufficient knowledge, as many as 55 people have sufficient behavior, and as many as 42 people, while those who have good behavior, 13 people and respondents who have good knowledge, 45 people have sufficient behavior, as many as 23 people and behavior well as many as 22 people (p-value <0.05). There is a relationship between knowledge and practice regarding the use of telepharmaceuticals in the community of Tabanan City. Abstract

Background: As a single extract, Curcuma xanthorrhiza and Physalis angulata are known to have antioxidant activity. However, the interaction effect of antioxidants in suppressing DPPH (2,2- difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) radicals that arise in these two combinations of plant extracts is not yet known. In this study, the combination of these two plants was investigated for their antioxidant properties and synergistic effects. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of Curcuma xanthorrhiza and Physalis angulata as antioxidants and the interactions they cause. Methods: The rhizomes of Curcuma xanthorrhiza and the herb Physalis angulata were extracted separately with ethanol. After evaporation, the crude xtract was tested individually to obtain the IC50 value. Based on the IC50 value of each extract, 9 combination variations were made and the combination index (CI) value was calculated to determine the resulting interaction effect. Result: The antioxidant activity of Curcuma xanthorrhiza IC50 extract is 51.015 ppm, higher than Physalis angulata IC50 extract which is 90.488 ppm. The CI value observed in the combination of extracts in all combinations had a CI value <1. Conclusion: This research shows that the combination of Curcuma xanthorrhiza rhizome extract and Physalis angulata herb has synergistic antioxidant properties.
