Abstract

Palliative care is an approach that aims to improve the quality of life of patients with chronic and terminal illnesses. Nurses' knowledge and attitudes are important factors in the success of palliative care services. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge and attitudes towards palliative care at the Harapan dan Doa Regional General Hospital in Bengkulu City. This study used a descriptive analytical cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 35 nurses working in the ICU, haemodialysis unit, and Madinah unit, selected using total sampling. The research instruments were questionnaires on nurses' knowledge and attitudes towards palliative care. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed that most nurses had good knowledge of palliative care (77.2%) and a positive attitude (68.6%). The majority of nurses also practised palliative care at a high level (91.4%). The chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.004 for the relationship between knowledge and practice, and a p-value of 0.028 for the relationship between attitude and practice, which means that there is a significant relationship between nurses' knowledge and attitude towards palliative care. The conclusion of this study is that nurses' knowledge and attitudes play an important role in supporting palliative care practices. It is recommended that training, seminars, and continuing education be provided so that all nurses have equal knowledge and positive attitudes, thereby optimising the quality of palliative care services in hospitals.

Abstract

Globally, although 88% of pregnant women access antenatal services with skilled health personnel at least once, only two out of three (69%) receive four antenatal care visits. In Southeast Asia, the coverage of K1 visits reaches 85%, but K4 visits only reach 55%. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and support from husbands and the use of antenatal care services by pregnant women at Siti Aisyah Hospital in Lubuklinggau in 2025. The research method used was descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional approach, using the chi-square statistical test. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 32 people at Siti Aisyah Hospital in Lubuklinggau. The results of the univariate analysis showed that a small number of respondents (21.9%) had insufficient knowledge, almost half of the respondents (37.5%) had unsupportive husbands, and almost half of the respondents (34.4%) did not fully utilize antenatal care services. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a relationship between knowledge (0.0005) and husband support (0.000) with the use of antenatal care services among pregnant women. There is a relationship between husband’s support and knowledge with the use of antenatal care services among pregnant women at Siti Aisyah Hospital in Lubuklinggau in 2025. The results of this study can be used as guidelines for implementing activities at the hospital, including guidance, coaching, and counseling programs on the use of ANC (antenatal care) services.
