Abstract

Research focused on the intersection two aspects of people interaction and communication activities in public spaces and people's behavior in using mobile phones with the case in Losari beach platform. Losari beach is one of the crowded public spaces and an icon of Makassar. Research objectives are determine characteristic of mobile phone use by age and gender, relationship between mobile phone features behavior and mobile phone physical behavior in public space. This research uses observation and questionnaires method to find mobile phone behavior and features data in public space. The findings are the visitors who use mobile phone dominated adult with male more than female except in session 3 (17:00-19:00) the number of female more than male, the main functions of mobile phone for sms/mms and calling has change into camera function, and the mobile phone behavior tends to be dynamic and active in Losari beach platform.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions and preferences of visitors to the public space facilities in the Kota Mara. This research uses qualititave and quantitative research. The number of respondent is 210 samples. Sample selection uses nonprobability purposive sampling technique by means of type purposive and accidental sampling. Data were collected using observation method, and questionnaire with Likert Scale. Data analysis methods used is the frequency distribution analysis and multinomial regression analysis. The result of this study outlines that 1) Available means of support space Kota Mara, namely: achievement building, Islamic center, plaza/exhibition halls, parks/green corridors, pedestrian paths, bins and street vendor stalls. 2) Visitor perceptions of the availability of supporting facilities in the Public Space of Kota Mara among other: means of parking spaces is quite good, and the perception of visitors to the facilities building achievements, islamic center, plaza/exhibition halls, parks/green corridors, pedestrian paths, bins and street vendor stalls is good.

Abstract

This study determines the perceptions and preferences of visitors to the public space facilities in the Kota Mara. This research used qualititave and quantitative research. The results of this study outlines that 1) Based on social characteristics of visitor Kota Mara is dominated by adult (17-25 years). The majority gender of visitor is male, background of educational is undergraduate student and the majority of background job is student. 2) Based on visiting characteristics of visitor Kota Mara are dominated by the visiting is not the first time, with the purpose of the visit to relax/hang out with friends or family, and the majority of the intensity of the visit is 2-7 times a week.
