Abstract

Abstrak - Pengembangan sistem informasi memerlukan metodologi yang tepat untuk memastikan perangkat lunak dapat dibangun secara efektif, efisien, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna. Berbagai model Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) seperti Waterfall, Agile, Spiral, dan Prototype telah banyak digunakan, namun setiap model memiliki karakteristik, kelebihan, serta keterbatasan yang berbeda sehingga tidak terdapat satu pendekatan yang bersifat universal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi best practice pengembangan sistem informasi melalui perbandingan keempat model SDLC menggunakan pendekatan Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Proses penelitian dilakukan melalui tahapan perencanaan, pencarian, seleksi, serta sintesis literatur dari berbagai sumber ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Waterfall cocok untuk kebutuhan stabil dan terdokumentasi, Agile efektif pada lingkungan dinamis dan adaptif, Spiral sesuai untuk proyek kompleks dengan risiko tinggi, sedangkan Prototype membantu klarifikasi kebutuhan pengguna pada tahap awal. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa keberhasilan proyek sangat dipengaruhi oleh kesesuaian antara karakteristik proyek dan model pengembangan yang digunakan. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi praktis sebagai panduan pemilihan metodologi SDLC guna meningkatkan keberhasilan pengembangan sistem informasi.Kata kunci: Software Development Life Cycle; SDLC; Waterfall; Agile; Spiral; Prototype; Systematic Literature Review; Pengembangan Sistem Informasi; Abstract - Information system development requires an appropriate methodology to ensure that software can be delivered effectively, efficiently, and aligned with user requirements. Various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models, including Waterfall, Agile, Spiral, and Prototype, have been widely adopted; however, each model possesses distinct characteristics, strengths, and limitations, making no single approach universally applicable. This study aims to identify best practices in information system development by comparing these four SDLC models using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research process involves planning, searching, screening, and synthesizing relevant scientific literature. The results indicate that the Waterfall model is suitable for stable and well-defined requirements, Agile is effective in dynamic and adaptive environments, Spiral is appropriate for complex and high-risk projects, while the Prototype model facilitates early clarification of user requirements. The findings emphasize that project success largely depends on the alignment between project characteristics and the chosen development methodology. This study provides practical recommendations to support decision-making in selecting suitable SDLC approaches for improving the success of information system development projects.Keywords: Software Development Life Cycle; SDLC; Waterfall; Agile; Spiral; Prototype; Systematic Literature Review; Information System Development;
