Abstract

In an effort to increase students' interest in Social Studies (IPS) for third-grade elementary school students, this research aims to develop digital learning media based on animated videos. The background of this research lies in the fact that students do not have significant interest in learning and that learning media are not used in an engaging way that matches students' characteristics. Needs analysis, product design, expert validation, product revision, and limited trials and implementation are part of the qualitative Research and Development (R&D) method. The product is a digital animated video created on the topic of Indonesia’s landscapes. The CapCut application was used to design it and align it with the appropriate curriculum. Validation results show that the developed learning media has an attractive appearance, systematic content, and language that is easy for students to understand. The practicality test results showed a percentage of 81% with a “very practical” category, and the effectiveness test results indicated that the media was effectively used in learning. In addition, digital animated videos have the potential to increase students’ attention, motivation, and engagement during the learning process. Therefore, digital animated videos can serve as a creative alternative for teachers to improve the quality of Social Studies learning in elementary schools.
