Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the storytelling method in increasing students’ learning interest in the subject of Islamic Cultural History at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Ikhwan Maros. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The research subjects consisted of the Islamic Cultural History teacher and fifth-grade students of MI Nurul Ikhwan Maros. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the storytelling method was conducted through the delivery of learning materials using engaging storylines supported by visual media in the form of images displayed through laptops and classroom televisions. The use of the storytelling method was able to increase students’ attention, participation, enthusiasm, and learning interest during the learning process. Students became more active in asking questions, expressing opinions, and retelling the material presented by the teacher. In addition, the storytelling method helped students understand Islamic historical events more concretely and meaningfully compared to conventional lecture methods. Therefore, the storytelling method can be used as an effective learning strategy to enhance students’ learning interest in the subject of Islamic Cultural History.
