Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the 21st century competencies that elementary school students must possess. However, learning Pancasila Education, especially Garuda Pancasila Symbols material in class 3A SD Supriyadi Semarang, is still carried out conventionally, resulting in low critical thinking skills among students. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students' critical thinking skills on Garuda Pancasila Symbols material. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 26 students of class 3A SD Supriyadi Semarang for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques used observation, critical thinking tests, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that PBL implementation significantly improved students' critical thinking skills. The completeness percentage increased from 40% (pre-cycle) to 60% (cycle I) and reached 86.67% (cycle II). Student learning activities also improved from the sufficient to the good category. The conclusion of this study is that PBL implementation can be carried out through the presentation of contextual problems related to the values of Garuda Pancasila, thereby encouraging students to think critically, analytically, and be able to connect symbols with everyday life.
