Abstract

Twenty-first-century education requires learning processes that foster students' critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. However, learning activities in elementary schools are still often teacher-centered, resulting in limited student participation during the learning process. One learning model that can address this issue is Project Based Learning (PjBL). This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model and its impact on the quality of learning in elementary schools. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that the implementation of PjBL was carried out in accordance with the stages of project-based learning. Based on observations, interviews, and documentation, the implementation of PjBL encouraged students to become more active in discussions, collaboration, and project completion activities. In addition, teachers became more creative in designing instructional materials, selecting learning media, and implementing student-centered learning. Although several challenges were identified, including limited time and supporting facilities, the implementation of PjBL had a positive impact on the quality of learning in elementary schools by creating a more active, interactive, and meaningful learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the management of character value-based extracurricular activities as an effort to develop students' leadership potential at SD Bumi Qur’an and SDN Sirnabakti. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results show that extracurricular management in both schools has implemented the POAC stages (planning, organizing, actuating, controlling), albeit with different characteristics tailored to each school's context. SD Bumi Qur’an emphasizes religious values and exemplary behavior, whereas SDN Sirnabakti places greater emphasis on mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and social collaboration. The implementation of scouting (Pramuka) activities has proven to be an effective means of fostering discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and leadership skills. However, the evaluation of student leadership has not been systematically documented. This study concludes that well-planned and character-based management of extracurricular activities can enhance students' leadership potential through habituation, role experience, and direct mentoring from instructors. The study recommends strengthening character-indicator-based planning, instructor training, developing leadership evaluation instruments, and fostering more intensive collaboration with parents and the community.
