Abstract

The main problem underlying this research is the lack of conceptual understanding among elementary school students during the learning process. This occurs because teaching and learning activities are still generally dominated by teachers, causing students to become passive and unable to fully master the material. To overcome this issue, teachers need to implement new learning models that are more interactive and enjoyable. This study aims to examine how the use of innovative learning methods can improve students’ conceptual understanding at the elementary school level. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research through a literature review approach. Data sources were collected from national journal articles discussing instructional innovation and students’ thinking abilities. The results of the analysis indicate that the use of innovative teaching methods can increase students’ activeness, learning motivation, and understanding of the material. Students find it easier to absorb lessons because they are directly involved in the learning process. This innovative approach also helps create a conducive and meaningful classroom environment. In conclusion, this learning model can be considered one of the best alternatives for teachers to improve the quality of student learning in elementary schools.
