Abstract

One day before the sea alms event held by coastal residents around Pantai Baru, Bantul Regency, a group of mobs carried out an act of violence that destroyed property (ubo rampe) for the event. The mass group considers that the marine charity event, which coastal residents routinely carry out, is an activity of shirk. Research in this journal is normative juridical (legal research), which focuses on studying the principles or norms in positive law, especially legal instruments in the field of Human Rights, both nationally and internationally. This type of research is carried out by examining formal legal regulations such as laws and literature containing theoretical concepts, which are then linked to the issues raised in the journal, namely aspects of human rights violations. The actions of a group of mobs that prevent the community from carrying out the sea alms tradition violate human rights. The government can try to protect the people's human rights in a preventive and repressive manner. Abstract

The recurring problem of coastal waste in the Blimbingsari area is influenced not only by technical factors related to waste management but also by the lack of integration of environmental education into family upbringing. This community service program aims to strengthen parents’ capacity to instill an environmentally conscious character in their children through a parenting approach tailored to the existing conditions of the coastal community. The program was implemented using a Participatory Action Research approach that actively involved the community in the process of problem identification, material development, activity implementation, and program evaluation. Data collection was conducted through observation, open-ended interviews, and the completion of participant forms by 30 heads of households. Data were analyzed using NVivo to identify dominant themes that served as the basis for developing parenting materials. The program was implemented through participatory discussion forums, parenting activities, and community service events to clean up coastal litter. The results of the activities showed that while the community cares about coastal cleanliness, they feel powerless due to high levels of waste generation, weak social norms, and a lack of institutional support. The parenting program successfully increased parents’ understanding of the family’s role in environmental education, strengthened community participation, and encouraged collective action to maintain coastal cleanliness. These findings indicate that community-participation-based parenting has the potential to be an effective empowerment strategy in shaping an environmentally conscious generation to support coastal sustainability.
