Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Inaportnet system on ship agency services at PT. Maritel Bahtera Abadi in Balikpapan. Inaportnet is Indonesia's integrated electronic port clearance platform, mandated by Ministry of Transportation Regulation No. 192/2015, designed to streamline vessel arrival and departure documentation. Using a quantitative approach with survey data from 51 respondents comprising shipping agents, port authority staff, and stevedoring company employees at KSOP Class I Balikpapan, the study employs Pearson correlation, simple linear regression, and coefficient of determination analysis through SPSS 25.0. The results show a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.472) between Inaportnet implementation and ship agency service quality, with the system explaining 53.4% of the variance in service quality (R² = 0.534). The t-test confirms the relationship is statistically significant (t = 3.750, p = 0.000 < 0.05). However, the study also documents operational challenges including 37 system error incidents across 179 vessel visits during the observation period, seven maintenance shutdowns, and persistent gaps between target and actual approval processing times. The findings suggest that while Inaportnet has a significant positive effect on agency services, system reliability issues and the continued requirement for face-to-face approval at KSOP Balikpapan limit its full potential.

Abstract

Field trips are a teaching method carried out by taking cadets to a specific location or site outside the classroom. For example, the field trip aboard the KNL MH Thamrin is a practical learning activity aimed at studying and observing all of the ship’s equipment and machinery firsthand, while also providing an introduction (familiarization) to life aboard a ship in preparation for the maritime work practice (Prala) in the 5th and 6th semesters. Prala provides cadets with the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired on campus, demonstrating the relevance between the theory learned during lectures and practical application. Additionally, Prala helps strengthen collaborative relationships between the university and shipping companies. It can also serve as a promotional tool for the institution with potential employers. Complaints from shipping companies regarding cadets’ readiness during their sea training, coupled with the suboptimal implementation of the Field Trip for engineering cadets at KNL MH Thamrin each semester, form the core issues addressed in this study. The objective of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the engineering department’s student field trips and the readiness of engineering students during their sea training, as well as the extent of this influence. A quantitative research method was employed, utilizing a questionnaire distributed to 70 third-semester cadets in the Engineering Department who had already completed their field trips. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS version 27.0.1, and the interpretation of the results serves as evaluation material and feedback for STIP to enhance cadet readiness in preparation for their sea training.

Abstract

The demand for energy continues to rise alongside today’s technological advancements, particularly the need for electricity generated from environmentally friendly sources. Saltwater can serve as an alternative energy source—a medium used to generate electricity that is relatively inexpensive, readily available, and non-hazardous. Saltwater commonly encountered in daily life is NaCl, or what is commonly known as table salt. By constructing a simple voltaic cell, an experiment was conducted to determine the extent to which variations in immersion depth and the distance between the two electrodes in the saltwater electrolyte affect the reaction with the electrodes in generating an electric potential difference. This experiment used two different electrodes: copper (Cu) as the cathode and zinc (Zn) as the anode. The saltwater electrolyte used also varied in salt concentration. It is hoped that the results of this study can be utilized by the public to help provide an alternative source of electrical energy and reduce monthly electricity bills.
