Abstract

Quality management in Islamic education presents significant challenges and opportunities in the face of globalization. This study aims to explore the concept and implementation of quality management in Islamic education through a literature review. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach by analyzing secondary data from relevant literature. The findings indicate that the application of quality management principles based on Islamic values, such as Panca Jiwa and Sharia principles, can enhance the quality of education in Islamic institutions. Additionally, strategies such as Total Quality Management and the integration of Islamic values into the curriculum strengthen institutional competitiveness. However, the study also identifies significant challenges, including resistance to change, limited funding, and the need for technological adaptation. The study concludes that Islamic education requires a balanced quality management approach that aligns religious values with the demands of globalization. This study provides theoretical contributions to developing a quality management system that is relevant to the needs of the modern era.

Abstract

The rise of social media and digital technology has altered elementary students’ learning habits, including their consistency in memorizing the Qur’an. Exposure to short-form video content and digital multitasking has been shown to reduce students’ prospective memory and impair learning focus. In response, SD Muhammadiyah 1 Kebomas (SDMURI) initiated the Tahfidz On The Street program, a Qur’anic memorization activity conducted every Friday morning in the schoolyard. This study aimed to explore the program’s implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors, and its impact on students’ memorization consistency and academic achievement. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Findings revealed that the program significantly improved students' memorization consistency, tajwid accuracy, and confidence in reciting, without disrupting academic performance. Interestingly, strong institutional support compensated for the lack of parental involvement in students’ spiritual development. This program presents a promising contextual model of tahfidz education adapted to digital-era challenges. Future research is encouraged to explore family and technology integration in strengthening students’ Qur’anic memorization.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at the junior high school level still faces the problem of low student engagement due to the dominance of conventional learning methods that focus on memorization and translation. The teacher-centered learning approach limits student engagement in the communicative use of Arabic, resulting in boredom, low self-confidence, and affective barriers to speaking skills. This situation encourages the implementation of more innovative, communicative, and contextual learning strategies. The Central Language Movement (CLM) is a language learning approach rooted in the principles of Community Language Learning and language immersion, emphasizing the habituation of Arabic language use through natural interactions within the classroom community. This study aims to analyze the application of CLM as a strategy for habituating Arabic language learning to increase the engagement of eighth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 4 Giri Junior High School. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, participant observation during the learning process, and supporting documentation. Research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was maintained through source and method triangulation, member checking, and an audit trail. The results showed that before the implementation of CLM, student engagement was relatively low, especially in speaking skills. After consistent implementation of CLM, students demonstrated increased engagement, confidence, and courage in using Arabic in simple spoken interactions. CLM implementation also reduced language anxiety and created a communicative and humanistic learning environment. Therefore, CLM is an effective, applicable, and relevant Arabic language learning model for junior high school students, including those with limited learning resources.

Abstract

Moral education is a fundamental aspect of Islamic education aimed at shaping students to be faithful, pious, and behave in accordance with the values of the Qur'an and Hadith. The phenomenon of declining manners and ethics among students toward teachers and the school environment highlights the importance of strengthening character education from an early age through structured habituation. This study aims to describe the role of daily habituation in forming akhlaq mahmudah (commendable moral character) among students at SD Muhammadiyah GKB 2 Gresik. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews with classroom teachers and the character habituation coordinator, and documentation of school activities. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that daily habituation implemented consistently and integrated through religious activities and positive habits, such as greeting at the school gate, morning hadith reading, memorization review (murojaah), congregational dhuha prayer, collective dhikr, daily charity (infaq), Qur'anic recitation (tadarus), the 5S culture, and the Klinik Muhasabah Center (KMC) program, contributes to instilling akhlaq mahmudah values in students, particularly discipline, honesty, and responsibility. The role of teachers as role models and the non-corporal punishment approach support the effectiveness of character habituation. The constraint identified was the difference in students' family backgrounds, which affects the continuity of habituation between school and home. Thus, daily habituation plays a strategic role in the formation of students' akhlaq mahmudah and requires ongoing synergy among schools, teachers, and parents.
