Abstract

The ability to write free verse poetry among junior high school students remains relatively low due to the limited variety of instructional models that can stimulate creativity and meaningful learning experiences. This condition indicates the urgency of applying more active and contextual learning models. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the experiential learning model assisted by picture media in improving the free verse writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMPN Satu Atap Cikawao, Sumedang. The research employed a pretest–posttest control group design by comparing the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups.The results show that the experimental group experienced a more significant improvement than the control group. The writing scores of students in the experimental group increased from 5.6435 to 7.7739 (an improvement of 2.1304), whereas the control group increased from 5.4533 to 7.0200 (an improvement of 1.5667). In addition, students responded positively to the use of picture media as a stimulus for creativity. These findings confirm that the experiential learning model assisted by picture media is effective in enhancing skills for writing free verse poetry.This study contributes to enriching instructional strategies in Indonesian language learning, particularly in developing creative writing skills. Further studies are recommended to apply this model at different grade levels or school contexts and to examine the integration of other visual media to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract

AbstractThis study adopts the theory of Critical Discourse Analysis by Teun A. van Dijk in evaluating online news articles published in two media, namely Kompas.com and detik.com, in order to explore the author's views and compare the views of both. The news topic chosen by the researcher was about "The Siege of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Prabowo's Vice President in the 2024 Election". This research is a qualitative descriptive research method. Data analysis techniques include data redaction, data presentation, and conclusion pulling.From the analysis of text structure, in both news macro in both news, it can be concluded that there is a difference in meaning between the titles taken by each news portal but still has the same context that news writers try to form a discourse that presents PDIP as a victim (has a positive image) and Gibran as a traitor and has no political ethics (negative image). The socicial cognition highlighted from the news is a role scheme with a social context of power practices where readers are led to sympathize with PDIP.Keywords : News Text Structure, Social Context, Teun A Van Dijk, Gibran Cawapres AbstrakPenelitian ini mengadopsi teori Analisis Wacana Kritis oleh Teun A. van Dijk dalam mengevaluasi artikel berita online yang dipublikasikan di dua media, yakni Kompas.com dan detik.com, guna mengeksplorasi pandangan penulis dan membandingkan sudut pandang keduanya. Topik berita yang dipilih peneliti yaitu mengenai “Pengusungan Gibran Rakabuming Raka sebagai Cawapres Prabowo pada Pemilu 2024”. Penelitian ini merupakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik analisis data  meliputi redaksi data, penyajian data, dan penarik kesimpulan.Dari analisis struktur teks, pada kedua berita tersebut makro pada kedua berita, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan makna antara judul yang diambil oleh setiap portal berita namun tetap memiliki persamaan konteks bahwa penulis berita berusaha membentuk sebuah wacana yang menghadirkan PDIP dianggap sebagai korban (memiliki image positif) dan Gibran sebagai pengkhianat serta tidak memiliki etika politik (image negative). Kognisi sosiial yang ditonjolkan dari berita yaitu skema peran dengan konteks social praktik kekuasaan Dimana pembaca digiring untuk bersimpati kepada pihak PDIP.Kata Kunci : Struktur Teks Berita, Konteks sosial, Teun A Van Dijk, Gibran Cawapres

Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic nation with rich and diverse cultural heritage, including traditional performing arts imbued with local wisdom values. However, in the era of smart society 5.0, the preservation of traditional culture faces serious challenges due to the dominance of digital technology and foreign cultural influences. This study aims to examine the development, procedures, inheritance patterns, and preservation challenges of debus traditional art at Padepokan Putra Kiara, Karangjaya District, Tasikmalaya Regency, in the smart society 5.0 era. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data sources comprising observation results, in-depth interviews with the padepokan's elders and players, literature review, and field documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that Padepokan Putra Kiara manages two variants of debus, namely Verification Debus and Invulnerability Debus, which previously required every prospective player to master three fundamental elements: breath control, sense refinement, and heart cultivation. The inheritance pattern proceeds informally through enculturation and socialization processes, from elders to community leaders, and subsequently to the next generation through experiential learning. Major challenges include public misconceptions regarding the mystical elements of debus, low interest among youth, and the economic limitations of practitioners. Recommended preservation strategies encompass performance digitalization, social media utilization, and collaboration with the creative industry to maintain debus's relevance in the modern era.
