Abstract

Cultivating tolerance in religious life can be taught through Catholic Religious Teaching in schools. One of the goals of teaching Catholicism in schools is to provide knowledge, to form an attitude of mutual acceptance, respect for differences in religion and other beliefs in society. The main problem in this study is the lack of tolerance in religious life in students at RK Deli Murni Diski Middle School. This can be seen from the reluctance of the students to congratulate other friends who are celebrating their religious holidays, and the lack of curiosity about the teachings of other religions and beliefs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the process of inculcating an attitude of religious tolerance in students through knowledge and appreciation of teaching Catholicism in schools. The research method used in this study is a mixed method consisting of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Methods of data analysis using descriptive statistics, correlation, and inductive analysis. The results of study showed that the majority or 86 (74.1%) respondents said that teaching Catholicism helps students respect and appreciate friends or teachers of other religions. The results of the correlation analysis between teaching Catholicism in schools and living harmony in the midst of religious differences also showed that there was a very significant correlation (.324**).

Abstract

The spirituality of the Brotherhood, Love and Peace aims to produce a comfortable, pleasant, joyful and peaceful life of a community. The main problem of the study is the lack of influence of knowledge and application of spirituality of the Brotherhood, Love and Peace related to the character building of the orphanage boy. The purpose of the study was to analyze relationship between spirituality teaching of the Brotherhood, Love and Peace and the character building of the orphanage boys. The research method used in the study is quantitative. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the majority (46.7%) of respondents understand and appreciate well what is spirituality in general. The results of the study also showed that the majority (66.7%) of respondents understand well the spirituality of brotherhood of love and peace. In addition, the majority (70%) of respondents understand what characters and character education. Finally, the results of data analysis also show that the majority of respondents said there was a positive influence of the Spirituality of the Brotherhood of Love and Peace on the character building of students at the Saint Aloisius orphanage Madiun.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative approach to explore the influence of reading the Bible on the development of children's faith. The main objectives of this study are to understand how reading the Bible can influence children's understanding and development of faith, as well as to explore the role of the Bible in shaping their belief in God. Based on the results of data analysis obtained from 7 respondents, it is known that all respondents (100%) stated that faith is a form of strong belief or conviction in God, which is a guideline or regulator in everyday life. This faith functions as a foundation in facing life's challenges and as a spiritual strength in their lives. In addition, this study also reveals children's understanding of the Bible. From the results of the study, 7 respondents (100%) stated that they view the Bible as a guideline for life, especially in the context of family life. Respondents see the Bible not only as a collection of teachings or stories, but as a source of values ​​and guidance in living a harmonious and loving family life. In essence, the Bible is indeed a guideline for life for Catholics. Through reading and deep understanding of the Bible, these children can absorb teachings that lead to the development of attitudes of love, empathy, and concern for others. In these teachings, Christ's love for humanity is the main value that inspires them to live their lives with understanding and love for God and others. Overall, this study aims to describe how reading the Holy Bible can play an important role in shaping and developing children's faith, as well as strengthening their understanding of the values ​​of life taught in religious teachings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of STKIP Widya Yuwana students regarding the relationship between the application of contextual learning methods and their learning achievement index (GPA). The research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design, involving a sample of students as respondents. Data will be collected through surveys or questionnaires to measure students' perceptions of the contextual learning method and their academic performance. The study will explore how students perceive the impact of contextual learning on their GPA, identifying factors that contribute to the effectiveness of this teaching method in improving academic success. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for educators on how to optimize teaching methods to improve student achievement, thereby contributing to the development of more effective pedagogical strategies in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study explores various faith formation activities for Catholic children and their impact on faith development and attitude changes among them. The research focuses on highlighting the importance of faith formation programs in fostering spiritual growth and promoting positive behavioral changes in Catholic children. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews. Purposive sampling was used to select participants, including three faith formation teachers, one parent, and one priest who were deeply involved in faith formation activities. The study presents four key findings: (1) faith formation teachers view their role as a calling and mission from God, (2) faith formation for Catholic children is a structured program designed to train and nurture faith, (3) the faith formation program in Region 3 St. Cornelius has been effectively implemented, with creative teachers actively engaging children in various activities, and (4) these activities have had a significant impact on the children’s faith development and attitudes, as evidenced by increased generosity, willingness to help others, forgiveness, and greater devotion in prayer.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between learning motivation and learning outcomes according to the perception of students at STKIP Widya Yuwana, Madiun. The research employed a quantitative approach. The total population of the study was 179 students, and a sample of 124 students was selected using the simple random sampling method. The primary variables measured in this study were learning motivation and learning achievement. The results revealed that all respondents (100%) acknowledged that learning motivation is closely related to academic achievement. Specifically, 57.3% of respondents perceived learning motivation as the driving force that encourages students to gain extensive knowledge and perform better in their studies. Additionally, 44.4% of respondents stated that students' academic achievement levels had a strong correlation with their level of learning motivation. Furthermore, 49.2% of respondents indicated that motivation plays a crucial role in providing encouragement and enthusiasm for students to achieve their desired academic success. In general, the findings support the study’s hypothesis that the higher a person's motivation to learn, the greater their opportunity to achieve higher academic performance.

Abstract

In the family, parents have an irreplaceable role in educating the Catholic faith of their children. Faith education in a Catholic family does not only provide knowledge about the Catholic faith to the children, but also to form children's loving attitudes. The research aims to explore the role of parents in children's faith education and the formation of children's loving attitudes towards God and others, as well as to analyze the challenges and solutions related to the children's faith education. The research applies a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through direct interviews with informants selected purposively. The results of the research show that Catholic faith education in the family has a significant influence on the formation of children's loving attitudes towards God and others. However, parents are continuously facing some challenges related to the Catholic faith education for their children. Those challenges are including time limitation to gather with the family due to huge activities of the parents and limited knowledge of parents regarding Catholic faith. To respond the challenges, parents continuously try their best to provide Catholic faith education for their children by encouraging them to join prayer activities in the family, attending Eucharist celebrations, increasing communication and mutual understanding among the family members.

Abstract

Public schools are basically owned by the Indonesian people and nation. The schools open for accepting any teachers, students, educational staff and employees from various tribes, ethnicities, religions, groups and social classes in Indonesia to study and work at the schools. Public schools can thus be said to be multicultural schools. The context of globalization and the socio-cultural diversity of the Indonesian nation have made multicultural education in the public schools a necessity. It is because multicultural education can create a comfortable school environment contributing to the development of the school environment that is safe, communicative, inclusive, tolerant, participatory and respect to the sosi-cultural diversity. The paper was written through a library research process. The processs was carried out systematically by collecting, reading, processing, and concluding information and scientific research data obtained from various written reading materials related to multicultural education in the public schools. The paper was written with the aim of exploring theoretical and practical concepts regarding multicultural education in the public schools. The paper is expected to have a significant contribute to the development of theoretical concepts on multicultural education, as well as practical input for school leaders and members for further development of multicultural education, particularly in the public schools.

Abstract

Honesty and truth are the important values ​​for human life because they are related to the good behaviors. Educational institution has an important role in educating students’ character of being honesty and truth in the life of students at school. Catholic religious teaching in schools is an effort made by a Catholic religious teacher to instill so called Christian values of honesty and truth in life of students. The research conducted with the following aims: 1) to analyze the extent of efforts made by Catholic religious teacher to instill the values ​​of honesty and truth in students’ life; and 2) to analyze the extent to which those values taught by Catholic religious teachers have a positive impact on the students' behavior. The research was conducted using qualitative methods. Research data was obtained through individual interviews. Research data analysis used an inductive approach. The results of research data analysis revealed that majority of informants revealed that they had tried their best to instill the values ​​of honesty and truth in the life of students through Catholic religious teaching in schools.
