Abstract

Health insurance is a hedge against financial risks, unexpected health losses, and expenditures (Folland, 2009). Therefore, health insurance helps to ensure social security. Health insurance is an important instrument to reduce the financial burden on people in general and beneficiaries in particular when providing medical care, thus making health services more accessible. In their efforts, the governments of all countries are aiming to make this type of insurance nationwide and comprehensive. However, along with the aim of increasing the coverage for the people related to medical examination and treatment costs, now a large part of the people is taking advantage and abusing the health insurance fund for personal interests. In the world, research on insurance fraud and abuse has been done in ethical or social aspects. However, the profiteering and abuse of health insurance funds in Vietnam is now attributed to many loopholes in the implementation process, thus leading to the idea that if others can do it, we can also do it. This study is conducted to examine the influence of perceived fairness in terms of the process, attitude, and distribution outcomes on the intention to fraud from health insurance. The sample of this study included 139 people who received medical examination and treatment with health insurance cards at hospitals in Hanoi city.

Abstract

In the context of increasingly fierce competition, retaining customers as well as promoting repurchase behavior is the foundation for companies to create and maintain sustainable business performance. Therefore, customer loyalty is considered an essential goal for the existence and development of every business. Building a loyal customer base has become a major goal in marketing programs (Karyose et al., 2017) and is considered an important goal for the survival and growth of a business. It is also an important basis for developing a sustainable competitive advantage, where the life insurance industry is no exception (Ruefenacht, 2018). Although the existing service marketing literature has extensively studied customer loyalty and revealed several customer loyalty premises, such as the discovery of trust (Van Tonder, 2016), customer value (Ishaq, 2012), service value (Li and Green, 2011), and most notably, satisfaction (Akbar and Parvez, 2009). However, studies that specifically address such loyalty in relation to the features of the insurance sector are scarce (Guillen et al., 2012). This study aims to explore the relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in the life insurance sector with the mediating variables of trust. The research results are the premise to propose solutions to promote customer loyalty as well as increase the intention and behavior of buying life insurance in Vietnam today.

Pensions play an important role in social security system of a nation. It helps reduce poverty among the elderly and ensures a decent standard of living after retirement. However, due to the impact of many economic and demographic variables, members of the system may leave the system earlier than supposed when they decide to have early retirement or lump-sum withdrawal of social insurance benefits before retirement age (Argento et al., 2015). There are many types of early retirement withdrawals such as hardship withdrawals, loans (withdrawals of a portion of your own retirement plan money, withdrawals, and transfers to another form of retirement accumulation. Motivations for early withdrawal may be different for each individual. In 2020, however, under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, lump-sum early retirement withdrawal becomes a more attractive option for individuals (Lee andHanna, 2020). Accordingly, this study aims to examine the factors affecting the intention to withdraw lump-sum social insurance benefits of employees through a survey of 250 participants that are currently in Vietnam, thereby providing policy recommendations to finalize legislation on social insurance and ensure the rights of workers.
